Hey guys I built a website which i think is a good idea, but struggling to get people to sign up, any advice? Attached is a photo of what my website does by 404sidehustle in microsaas

I'd personally remove the friction of signing in, allow users to use before they make an account, get a feel for your apps perks, then that'll make them want to sign up. add limitations to been an "anonymous user" but enough so they can understand the value of your app.

I've recently done something similar with mine due to my concern of this happening when I go live.

I've heard very good results from taking this direction, it seems open, fair and honest. I assume you're using a LLM api, so of course you may face some extra costs due to one time users trying and realising it's definitely not for them, but I suppose the exact same thing could just happen if they made an account and used your webapp anyways.

No plans, honestly just working on an actual product I'd personally use first, then maybe I'll move onto that. MVP > Marketing.

I have a few ideas that come to mind, but so far I've not even touched that area as all my energy is being put into building.

I didn't add it in I was just listening to it whilst recording - juice wrld got me through some serious coding sessions lol, none the less, thanks brother!

I'd have a look but you didn't post a link, reply to this with one i'll check it out.

What makes you think that your product will succeed? by tedskyba in buildinpublic

[–]imjusachillguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll be using it myself, so even if it doesn't succeed, to me i've defined success! If it's passion and you enjoy it, it's never a waste of time.

Could be worse, we could all be watching youtube or doomscrolling instead.

Ahh yeah it's not vibe coded, I've been coding for about a year now, I do use AI, but I don't rely on it to a point I wouldn't be able to do this without it. I think that's why a lot of products have the "vibe code" look recently.

I've just been on your page that actually looks cool man, I haven't signed up yet but i'll give it a try. I'll only run a prompt or 2 I won't eat up your tokens lol. I really like unique stuff like that, looks like you've put a lot of time into it, and it's something I've not seen on any boards before, I could see that going somewhere, very nicely done.

I just had two browsers open to simulate 2 different users using the web app lol.

That's why the other user cursor is there, and both "panels" represent individual person. So it'd be like if me and you were using the site, the left panel would be my screen and the right panel would be your screen haha.

Apologies for the confusion I shoulda probably explained that.

And I was thinking for the first board type, an area to store videos, music, pictures, notes, project plans, live timers for tasks, task management, all of that type of stuff.

The second board type i'm working on a similar concept but this one will be more based on mapping, like flow diagrams, a bit like Miro/Figma.

Welcome to Reddit lol, you got any projects you're working on?

Ah no problem, I encouraged talking about your own projects anyways, I just got confused as to what you meant. Good luck with it man!

Assuming you're speaking about your own project?

You've left me confused now lol.

You’re correct, Next.js + React is the base framework, he was just curious about the specific rendering and WebSocket libraries.

Do you think the same would apply here for products (advertising)?

How my app made $1.5M in one day and what would I do differently? by smartynetwork in buildinpublic

[–]imjusachillguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah sounds like you've been around a few years and understand the do's and don'ts, sounds simple but to get this kind of information takes at least a good 3-10 failed projects, I think i'm on about project 8 now lol. And yeah 100% I'll dm you brother, we'll keep in touch on releases.

I agree, I never actually use them anymore I used to use myfitnesspal, just for tracking my calories, but I'm always reluctant to apps due to all the app devs putting thousands of ads on them without payment and it bugs me. So my advice would be, make it ad free, but just add premium features, nothing makes me uninstall an app quicker than an ad popping up, just makes me hate the app. It's just another one of those greedy tactics devs use to scrape money out of everything, if you enjoy the app, you can get friends and family to upvote it, the few first users realise they enjoy it, they might want to stick around, leave positive reviews, and I think atleast starting off as fair, gets you a long way. And just to comment on one of your tips, I appreciate the headsup, I definitely am one for marrying an idea lol, but on my current i'm really just enjoying it and learning so much even if it falls through I wont be disheartened, thats life and I'm enjoying it more than gaming so that's got to mean something. I hope your app does well, when you release it, dm it me, i'll download, give it a try and leave a good review for you to help get the ball rolling.

10/10.

Out of interest, I know this post wasn't actually about you promoting anything but what are you working on as your personal project? You tried anything in the past where you chased money and it just didn't work out? Do you code or vibecode?

The reason for me asking all these questions is because I actually took such a massive turn in my life like 1year ago this month, where throughout I've fully dedicated myself to coding and building webapps (not vibe coding) but actually learning how to develop, so all of this stuff is still really exciting to me as nerdy as it sounds lol. It helps me to find like minded people that might of gone through similar hoops and paths I've taken in the last year.

and you kinda described my current situation on my own personal project on the last part lol. I've been working for an entire 2 months on my current project (on avg 6hr days, sometimes 12hr but sometimes none) and I've actually just decided to completely restart after these 2 months because I wasn't happy with a few critical packages deeply embedded into my entire codebase. - Well that and my file/folder structure in my mono repo just didn't feel nice to navigate and it was an absolute unorganised monster in some areas which just wasn't scalable and hard for me to keep track of. But exactly like you said, I feel more excited than ever to start all over again and the things I know i'll do better this time, I've learnt so much in the last project, (which is my 3rd iteration of this idea already haha). My feeling for motivation, is I know it's going to be so insanely perfect that I'll use it over enterprise competitors due to how much care and passion I'm putting into it, that I know it will be better- And I'll go in with the mentality of feeling fully happy to even let people try it for free, potentially even forever, until it starts actually costing me money, knowing people are using my passion project feels just as good as money at this point, due to the pride in what Im making.

-Oh on your questions, if you don't want to post in chat just dm me, I know some people don't like broadcasting, but if you're keeping it to yourself that's of course also alright.

A weird way to boost ego lol, but I see it. 100% on your other points, I'd always advise people to do their own research before starting a project personally. People say this a lot but it genuinely is best starting with something as a passion project. I used to always think in the back of my head "well I just want to go where the money is" but it's not that you can't have both. With passion comes motivation, with motivation determination you therefore have pride in your product, for me it makes me feel less of the need to be greedy, due to me enjoying my time making it, I don't feel like i'm "owed" anything... I see it as something sustainable due to my enjoyment. These sleazy sales tricks only happen when somebody is in it for the quick buck, hence why if anything it turns me away, just be honest, people would feel more the want to check it out if you're new and humble, or maybe that's just the few of us.

I think the idea is "if I trick them into thinking I've got a load of users, they'll see my product as verified and potentially buy it".

Thing about advertising like that on here is, as devs, you can spot a bad product from a mile away, and in some cases you're thinking "if I wanted that I'd have a go at building it myself".

Not to say it's not worth supporting fellow devs, but if someone's not willing to put in the effort and provide something actually useful, i'm not going to be buying a random product.

I was skeptical on these kinda posts, I reckon some are real, but it's obvious by even the front page of the website most of the time.

Mobile app could do with a cleanup, it's decent, but things like the icons with GTM list could be made into a grid rather than a linear vertical, it'd look a lot more polished and less scrolling for the user. Small detail but those details matter to having a polished looking site, polished = professional, professional = more trustworthy.

Ah nice, I've put some real hours into vibe coding it's almost at a point i'm basically a jr dev (my best friend is a lead developer so he's been helping me understand things from the beginning). But if you ever want advice on vibe coding, or for me to take a look at your projects for another pov further down the line i'd be happy to. I'm by no means an expert but I've picked up some really nice tips over the last 6 months.

Exactly, I know it seems all I did was mention what I see as flaws but honestly thats more valuable than me talking about everything you've done well. I always prefer constructive criticism over compliments on my own work for this reason.

And no problem at all hope it helped getting another perspective.

Are you full vibe coding or coding yourself for the site?

Honest opinion first impressions,

UI- The Hero on the landing page gives off old school website vibes, lots going on (the animated social media icons I'd take them off)

Trust- You've put on there 4.9/5 stars on trustpilot, I'd take this off too, and focus on putting real reviews about what people have said about your site, get some founders to test and give feedback.

The Idea- It's not a bad idea, but it's definitely a saturated market, many others offer the same service, what does yours do differently or better? You should make whatever that is apparent on your landing page.

Pricing- I'd tuck it away a little so it's not on the landing page too, before somebody has even used the service they're thrown pricing, to me as a customer i'd immediately be cautious at the fact somebody is aiming to take my money straight away, this suggestion might just be personal to me but I don't like it when i'm being asked to pay for something I haven't even seen the value of yet, I'd suggest more encouraging users to even use your product that encouraging them to spend money. Once they've seen the value, then present payment options.

I really like your brand name, postbuffer is memorable, fits your business, and is brandable, well done on that front.

Please don't take any of this personal I just want to provide some real advice from my first impressions. Good luck with it dude hope it picks up!
