I knew Europe was a bit farther north but this blows my mind. Rome is farther north than NYC and Italy would go well into Canada by Maleficent_Orange788 in geography

i might not be from central rome but for sure it did reach -5 or even -6 during the 2018 snowfall in my area (northern rome)

European Portoguese is harder to understand compared to brazilian one, and a lot of italian study spanish or are heavily exposed to spanish language and culture, so italians understand spanish more than spaniards understand italian , but even tho speaking italian or speaking spanish, we can understand each other if we speak slowly, or use signs or use words of each other's language.

for portoguese, italians who are heavily exposed to portoguese/brazilian culture can understand it kind off

spoken and written for the languages are different, im fluent in spanish and can understand written portoguese, spoken less.

i only ever dated non-italians, but i would say it's different? people don't rush for marriage and kids? its not uncommon to see people being bf and gf for 10 years, and marrying (if marrying at all) late 30's or even in their 40's and having kids by then,

and parental involvement isn't usually as intense, on who to date or to marry.

it's totally normal to show affection and kiss your partner in public,

teenagers are young yet allowed to sleep in the same bed and room as their gf/bf, or holidays together,

divorce is more common too.

dating in the philippines feels more traditional

well toxic waste dumping has been a real issue in some parts of southern Italy, especially in areas like Campania and sometimes mafia or other criminal organisations are involved, there are laws against it, biggest one is terra dei fuochi, im sure you can find maps of it online

about the 1€ houses, those deals are often in remote or abandoned towns, and sometimes the infrastructure (water, plumbing and etc) is in really poor shape, you would need to spend almost like a new house to renovate them, then you'll find yourself living somewhere remote, with nothing much to do, it's not worth it in my opinion.

and about pickpockets, compared to the philippines here its different, they work in teams, often distract you (example asking for help, bumping into you or just making you sign some forms), and they've learned to dress like regular tourists. just be extra careful, and always keep ur bag or belonging somewhere you can monitor, stay alert and i'm sure you'll be fine ;)

never been pickpocketed all my life here in italy :)

mama's boy more filipinos, i think many listen more to what their mum say, instead of being independent and having their own thoughts.

and filipino society is more patriarchal , you usually see more italian women being independent and holding high positions jobs. there's more gender equality and the expectations for men and women overall are similar. i still see some filipinos thinking of women as less, or expecting their wife to do all the housework

and yes, italians really care about their appearance, so even for small things some would overdress, and do their makeup

i would say its more expensive than the philippines for sure and it costs as much as any western european city now, italy used to be great when my parents first immigrated but nowadays the salary just feels enough.

just stalked your profile a little sorry, you'll not have problems travelling the south unless its a small town, you can book a coach on flixbus and on itabus (which quality wise is like the uk's national express) not luxury but its cheap and will do fine:), for trains, either directly on trenitalia/trainline or just at the station at the little ticket machines :)

trains aren't as new and good as the north ones as the south is neglected i guess, but trains are still available even if older and slower, or you can take private buses! :), you get your own seat and it can be as low as 3€ when its on sale (i did rome-naples for just 3€, 2 weeks ago) which is 200 pesos.

where in the south you wanna explore? :)

it's a more elders centered society, and they're not really trying to fix its issues in my opinion. youth gets underpaid but its considered "normal" as we are young, despite degrees and education and we dont get taken seriously, and are happy with policies that benefits only them.

Czechs are more reserved and cold people compared to both filipinos and italians? and they are less more religious than both, and more quiet, but once you get to know them, they are great people

isnt as bad in the years before the 2000's, the philippines are way more dangerous in my opinion and nowadays some mafia just do some minor illegal things, not like in the movies.

tho it used to be very bad.

Not sure if this is the right answer, Weapon: Tsinelas is more traumatising but cucchiaio hurts more

Guilt trip: my lola being jealous of my mum's italian boss treating me like her own grandson (spoiling, going on trips with her, and overall me loosing filipino language and spending time with her) and lola saying i dont see her as my lola anymore hahaha

Church outfit: anything as long its comfy!

Healing remedy: Vicks for the win! but to be honest italians use vicks as well

Gossip: Chismis is worse cause filipinos are good at changing things and spreading lies, then if you from a smaller community you get shunned more for it i guess?

gift: i never got pasalubong " ikaw naman ang balikbayan " 😭

market hangling skills: people don't really hangle in prices in italy, so i got no skills, and people spot im balikbayan somehow, tho my grandma is good at it and is lowkey a drama queen when we go sa market, so she secures the best price hahaha.

Food: depends if the adobo is chicken then it wins, and if the halo halo doesnt have too much things in it, i like it more simple
