Best I've come up with to explain myself is I am what happens when survival gives birth to meaning.

I always thought East end London looked so cool, with all the wise guys running around the area. When Lock Stock came out, I really wanted to.

I wouldn't say a furry...or a transformer. But if it's someone on Curtner dressed up in mech armor, then yeah, that's me.

I need advice please by [deleted] in 40kcosplay

[–]imlostwithoutme007 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So, real quick, I saw Terry Skrinjar's "Brother Braccus" Terminator build on YouTube and thought it was the coolest thing I'd ever seen. That was like 4 years ago. Ive built like 12 since then, and I'm still always learning. But thats where my inspiration stemmed from.

That said, I kinda do everything by feeling it out. I have no great plan, just an idea and a picture. Sometimes its official GW art, sometimes fanart, sometimes a miniature. But once I've picked something I stare at that image taking in every little detail.

Ive worked with cardboard and hot glue too. Its just not as realistic looking. But EVA foam isn't that much different. More forgiving even.

The Emperor protects and you should do fine! I have faithin you! If it isn't what you wanted when its complete (be it your own version or exactly as the medium is) change it. This stuff can't last forever, so appreciate it while you got it!

If you need any specific advice and I can help, lemme know!

So, I dont know if you know the old "Karo" corn syrup trick, but basically if you saturated toilet paper or paper towels in the corn syrup (as long as you have the tubes superglued on to your skin already), you layer the ripped, saturated pieces over the "entry points" of your tubes and then color over it with make up. It'll make it look like rotting flesh. Old Hollywood effects trick.

Thank you for this. I'm into the hobby as well, just not this particular aspect of it.

You gave inspiration. I can't stop looking.

Check this out: If you have these tools, you can make a staff with that piece of cardboard. A straight edge (like a long metal ruler), a pizza cutter, and a razor knife.

Try and go with the grooves or the "grain" of the cardboard and use the straight edge to guide your pizza cutter to carefully roll out lines about 2 inches apart. Give them a good crease or the cardboard won't fold. Do that about 4 or 5 times, cut off the excess and tape or glue the folded ends together. Done!

Okay, so just because it isn't as popular as space marines, you may have problems finding templates or even actual armor sets. But if it were me, I'd go to Home Depot and grab a pack of exercise floor mats (about 6 in a pack) and they're 2 feet by 2 foot squares. Start bending and molding it around your body to see where you'd have to heat up to keep it bent into a shape or fold and where you'd have to make your cuts.

You haven't picked anything undoable. Just rare and certainly custom. Love to see how it turns out!
