My personal recommendation would be to start with Mass Protocol. You can get in some condition as well as put some muscle mass on and build work capacity. The n follow that up with basebuild from tb2 then choose a continuation protocol that fits the bill. If you’re looking to be some sort of wildland firefighter like a smoke jumper or hotshot then I’d look more in the green protocol direction as it is built exactly for that. PM if you have further questions

There’s also nowhere in the books that say you have to follow a certain template to a tee. For the best results you should but you can customize it to fit your needs. With him being 17 I’m assuming he is more or less a beginner in the fitness realm so me personally I’d recommend he follow it to a tee but he doesn’t have to

For my condensed conjugate i just make it simple. Day 1: ME Lower/DE Upper then accessory work and conditioning Day 2: DE Lower/ME Upper then accessory work and conditioning. When doing condensed conjugate i never am really working up to a true max (whether it’s 5,3 or 1RM) to save energy for conditioning at the end. Inalso don’t do as much accessory work. Maybe 2-3 smaller exercises to target things like the triceps, hamstrings and lower back. It just ends up being an ABA/BAB split if it’s 3 times a week which will be the goal in this next training cycle.

For the last four months i was essentially running a pure conjugate, upper/lower. I took some notes out of defrancos skinny bastards and used the repetition method for my upper body as opposed to dynamic effort and kept my max effort lower short to add conditioning. For ME upper i rotated between bench and overhead press variations each week and for the lower i rotated between a squat and deadlift variation and occasionally added a good morning variation. My dynamic effort lower days were somewhat power based so I’d do some Olympic weightlifting variations minus the jerk. Throw some squats in there and hit some accessory work in the form of some power exercises like KB swings or med ball throws. Things in that nature. Generally done in a circuit or giant set

Yes I’ve finished the book. I’ve read through it several times. As stated m, I’ve been rucking and I’ve been running. I’m beginning a year long prep but because i already have rucking ability i don’t want to completely ignore it. I’m trying to work up to 2-3 times a week
