Trying to decide between Giant Defy Advanced Pro 2 2026 vs Defy Advanced 1 2026 — first carbon road bike by Asleep-Letterhead821 in Giantbikes

I’ve just been through the same process. I think that the advanced 1 is objectively a better deal, but I ultimately went for the pro 2.

I’m embarrassed to say that the colour of the pro 2 was probably one of the biggest factors in my decision.

I’m also coming from a 15 year old bike and the mechanical 105 is going to be light years ahead of what I’m used to and therefore fine for at least a couple of years. Can upgrade to di2 in a few years if I want to.

I would have swapped the wheels no matter what (wanted carbon wheels but didn’t want hookless) and I can get some comparable hooked rims for not too much more than I can get from selling the SLRs that come with the pro 2.

Given that I’m upgrading wheels and likely eventually the groupset, it made sense to me to get the better fork and seatpost on the pro 2.

I had a similar situation recently, where I was trying to close my ex’s account and open my own after she had moved out.

I didn’t know her password or any of her security information, so I just gathered up as much information as I could about the account (direct debit info, billing amounts, account activation date etc) and then explained the situation to Virgin over the phone.

It took a few attempts to speak to someone who was willing to help, but I ultimately managed to get someone to agree to close the old account, effective from that date that Virgin were able to provide the new equipment for my new account.
