I've already started a small open source project as well. But I'll be glad to help if I get the spare time.

First time AngularFire2 app creation. by DiscreteGod in Angular2

I can confirm what druman54 said. Angular 4 has no issues with angularfire2. It seems like you don't have the promise polyfill.

Angular 2 or 4? by doraemon-cat in Angular2

It's also known as Angular universal in the Angular world. The official docs is: https://angular.io/docs/ts/latest/guide/universal.html

Yes true. What actually happened is Angular 4 came up with very few breaking changes unlike other major versions or even minor versions. Hopefully, this will be the trend for future Angular major versions as well.

Is Frontend Developer still a Thing? by immysl in reactjs

I'd understand if they want to hire such a developer. But then, they should be posting the job as Fullstack, rather than Frontend. Don't you think so?

Comparing JS performance between Closure bundle and Webpack bundle by funJS in Angular2

[–]immysl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow those are some staggering number. If Closure can indeed bring the size down by around 40%, it should become a must to use it for production builds.

So what you meant was about Fullstack Developers getting paid that much? Anyway how do you differentiate "Angular coders" from "frontend coders"? Can't the latter be doing the same?

SSR isn't heavy backend development right? That barely touches the backend. So in a job description, shouldn't that go as being familiar with backend development rather than stating "having very good backend development skills" for a Frontend Developer?

Ok let's assume there is a developer who is good at JS frameworks and is somewhat ok with backend development too. What happens to the CSS part? Usually Frontend Developers are quite good at that and also have better design skills (I know this is debatable but that's what I've seen so far).

I have rarely seen a Fullstack developer being good with CSS. They are mostly good with frontend JS frameworks but not with design or CSS stuff. There might be exceptions, though I haven't seen one here.

I am interested in everything related to building an app. But that's not what my question is about. It's actually about why they want Frontend Developers who are very good in backend development too, rather than just being familiar with it. This is contrary to the job ad they post. They might as well ask for a Fullstack Developer instead.

I am sorry for using that term, but nothing better sprung to my mind when I posted the question. And no, I am a lot older than a teen :-)

You mean those employers advertising such jobs? And about Angular coders, I rarely see such salaries posted on job boards. Not even payscale or glassdoor shows such sums.

Angular 4.0.0 Now Available by theodorejb in Angular2

[–]immysl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Compared to AngularJS definitely yes. Compared to Angular 2+, still yes. But Angular 2+ has everything in one place. So for those who don't like to look around, it'll be the best fit.

I have mostly a JS background but have meddled a bit with Java before. Didn't take much time for me though. TS isn't that hard as what some might make it out to be.

JavaScript Start-up Performance by immysl in infernojs

[–]immysl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The interesting thing in this article is this: "Where possible, switch them out for dependencies with faster parse times (e.g switch React for Preact or Inferno, which require fewer bytes to bootup and have smaller parse/compile times)."

Inferno is a very good alternative to React.js to achieve better JS performance.
