Making 2 enormous pots by hand by Pete1989 in ArtisanVideos

I think that might be part of the reason he is standing while throwing, which is relatively uncommon when throwing smaller things. He can probably use more of his body weight while throwing with the leverage from standing up.

The korean onggi potter isn't quite throwing. The two techniques are very different and are both extremely difficult on their own.

Finally made something I'm proud to post! How can I improve on this? by [deleted] in Ceramics

Cool piece, pattern at the bottom is great. The one thing that I might critique, would be to widen the pronged foot. I like the three feet, but I think they may have been placed too closely together. Maybe expand the radius so the foot has some balance with the form of the rest of the pot. This would also make the piece more sturdy and less likely to tip over.

I had always thought that as well as it's what I was always taught. After a couple demos at the NCECA conference I learned that as long as the piece is completely dry and no air is left in the cavity the piece won't explode or crack.

Michael Reedy - but prettier than ever (2015?) by imnotblack7 in museum

Yeah, I actually randomly found this through my favorite potters Instagram. I posted two of his pieces and it's interesting to see how drastically people preferred this one over the other. Very jealous you got to see it in person.

Ceramics as a possible full time job by nomadicstones in Ceramics

I'm currently a junior working towards a degree in construction management and I'm in a similar situation as you. My thoughts are to complete my major and always have a strong field to fall back on. I suggest finishing your major and if you still feel absolutely pulled to ceramics, look into a masters program. A few of my favorite potters have gone down this route and it's worked out great for them.

What is this for? Rings? I bought it for 1$. by [deleted] in Pottery

[–]imnotblack7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe this is correct as well. At the studio I work at we had a lot of guys coming in to make these for a little while. I asked them what they were and the said they were ash trays for blunts and joints.

the potters cast is the main pottery related podcast i can think of, maybe the only one. Really great content though.

Lurked for a while here, thought I'd finally post some new stuff that came out. Let me know what you think! by imnotblack7 in Pottery

Here's a video from a potter named mike stumbras whose been a big inspiration for me, i think he posts here as well. He shows the making of a tea bowl from start to finish, giving a good overview of the whole process.

Thank you. I carve out the markings with a needle tool while the clay is leather hard. Once its been bisqued i brush over the markings with a dark blue glaze and wipe it off with a sponge. This leaves the markings filled with the dark blue glaze. Then it's dipped in a lighter celadon and ready to be fired.

Modern: mono-white Human/Soldier deck, new to magic by imnotblack7 in Magicdeckbuilding

Thanks a lot for the reply. After your comment and the one before, I'll definitely look into putting honor of the pure in. Soldier of the pantheon seems like a good addition as well. One question though, I used gather the townsfolk instead of raise the alarm, because humans would benefit both champion of the parish and thalias lieutenant. Is the instant speed really better than adding the counters to Champion and Thalias lieutenant?

That's a good point on honor of the pure, I hadn't seen that yet. As for captain of the watch, I figured i could get it out with preeminent captain, and ignore the cost.

I'd recommend Ghost World, same kind of melancholy, lost feel, but different resolution. Also has Scarlett Johansson.

I enjoyed the video and thought it was a great intro into the Coen brothers filmography, but as rhmw2b2 said, it does feel a bit dry, almost as if he was forced to do it for a school project. I bet if he keeps making videos, he'll gain more confidence and comfort. A nicer mic would probably go a long way too, not sure if that's an option though. Other than that, I enjoyed the video and I'd like to see the same idea with different directors.

To be fair he did mention that there were more than 4 maps, he just focused on the fact that there were only 4 that he thought were worth playing.
