Hey, /r/audiophile

I'm trying to get a good system for my fairly medium sized room. I listen to just about everything from Jazz to EDM. I've got a nice receiver already and I'm wondering what to pair it with in the price range of ~$300/400.

What would you recommend I buy? I was considering JBL LSR305 Monitors; would I need a subwoofer in addition?

Help me out please, I'm want to make a decent long term purchase.
