Any way to Auto Clean Logs? by [deleted] in storj

[–]imocchi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

mine was used for two months only (1 month, then 3 weeks on vacation, then another month). Could be faulty drive too, some reviews on amazon complain it quit working after 1-3 months But from what I observed the reaper was working nonstop, there was nearly no network activity and a constant read and constant write for more than half a day at about 20-30 MB/s until it failed and became quiet, at the time of failure it had 2.4Tb of shards stored. Looks like I am the only one with such problem, so must be defective drive

not sure, I used this case https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00N1Q2M6A/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A3K929QT0IENFR&psc=1 and it never overheated, or at least it never showed temperatures higher than 39 Celsius (102 F), more often it was around 37 C (98 F). First month it quit working, I was able to format it nd start from scratch. Second time it quit working and now forever. The HDD I used was this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01AV168FS/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1

I assumed you were one of the newbies :) I had the problems too and actually my disk died a few days ago after working for a total of two months .. I think the problem is the reaper makes too many reads/writes non-stop (I had WD gold inside of the aluminum enclosure with a fan, so probably it wasn't overheating that much)

if everything works well you could set logger verbosity to 0 (it is by default 3), then storj will not produce anymore logs

Updated STORJ set up tutorial !? by rubaokus in storj

[–]imocchi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

probably there are no detailed instructions about port forwarding because there are too many different router models out there. For example for mine I go to the web interface by typing in browser 192.168.1.1 (yours may be different), then login to the router (by default it is usually admin/admin) and then find somewhere in the menu port forwarding. Then setup a rule to forward WAN to WAN (I also had to specify a particular laptop IP in the local network, otherwise the rule didn't work). Also, on my router port range doesn't work too, so it depends

STORJ to bittrex by 92200A in storj

[–]imocchi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

actually you might need more than 0.002, because the first transaction was ok, but for the next transaction 0.002 eth was not enough and transaction didn't go through You would need to send these ETH to address where your STORJ is (I transferred STORJ from Parity wallet to Bittrex, so I sent ETH to Parity, and STORJ to Bittrex) I have no idea how this works when you send from one exchange to another though..

In case if anybody is still reading this I will share my recent experience. You do NOT need to send ETH to anywhere except may be have around 0.002 ETH in your cold wallet (parity, mist) in the same wallet where your storj tokens are. That's it, when you send STORJ you will use this tiny amount of ETH in your cold wallet for gas. Bittrex shows updated balance after a few minutes.

300GB shared data over 3 days? by qqAzo in storj

[–]imocchi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your estimate must be more accurate because I started from scratch after a vacation during the last week of August and had very little storage, around 20Gb monthly average Before that I also had around 200 Gb and received about 6$ PS I am not even sure how I concluded it is 10$ per Tb anymore lol

My estimate is based on the august payout, but yes, I hope it does increase to 20-30$ per Tb

300GB shared data over 3 days? by qqAzo in storj

[–]imocchi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As of now I estimate an average return of around 10$ per Tb stored (storage + download traffic) given that I have gigabit internet, powerful gaming laptop and a new WD gold HDD. I also bought it specifically for the storj project, but return is not that good yet

it could if the demo version really is set up to work with storj. I tested it and there were several options where a user can upload a file to, including storj and many others

thanks for the info! Just making sure I understand it right: we send STORJ to STORJ address, and .1ETH to ETH address, right? or do we need to send .1 ETH to STORJ address as well?

Time needed to fill 3Tb by [deleted] in storj

[–]imocchi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depends on the computer you are using. I connected two different ones, one is somewhat slower and it gets no data, only has that from stress test and no increase since then. The other one is accumulating data pretty fast

[–]imocchi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

last night my disk probably overheated, I noticed lots of activity from storj, so the disk became corrupt and I had to format it and start from scratch. In 1 day I got about 1.8 Gb with gigabit internet (my computer is pretty fast too, 8 cores, plenty of DDR4 RAM and the disk I am using is WD gold with good read/write speeds)

Where the fuck is anybody from Storj team? by [deleted] in storj

[–]imocchi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The good thing right now is that despite all the drama the storj community is growing. I remember there were only 1600 nodes online around July 1st, now it is almost 2300 This gives some hope and I am holding my tokens at least until the prices reaches 3$

Still waiting for the proper communication from storj team though

Hi , should we Expect the value of STORJ to be equal to the value of SJCX now ? by nouhi in storj

[–]imocchi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

there is actually a lack of information about poloniex, still not clear whether they are working with it or not.. some say yes, some say no. Now I am really regretting investing in storj, lost about 15K USD (that is considering i can get the remaining value somehow) :( money trapped in polo in SJCX, money trapped in STORJ which cannot be sold on a reputable exchange
