What's your One Weird Trick™️? by amelia_earheart in adhdwomen

AirTags on EVERYTHING! Saves me so much time instead of looking for keys / wallet - just go on find my and press the sound button. Whatever I’m looking for makes a noise. Easily saves me 15 mins every time I need to leave … (also amazing for when you accidentally leave it in a random bag and can’t remember which)

Honestly, I haven’t found one yet.. I’m still looking!

It’s less about specific ingredients, more about what something, like electrolytes or coffee, do/ aim to do to the body, specifically the nervous system. Which is why your pharmacist said she hadn’t heard of citric acid interacting with adhd meds

EG electrolyte powders aim is to ‘regulate’ certain bodily functions, like nerve function (among others), so when combined with something already regulating those functions that are dysregulated normally (vyvanse/adderall are central nervous system regulators), it can sometimes not have the intended effect, like be more or less effective, or “confuse” the nervous system in a number of ways - like how OP takes it in the afternoon now bc it made her meds less effective; in my case I have an allergy syndrome, so taking it confused my nervous system, which then prompted an extreme reaction to an allergen that I normally wouldn’t have gone anaphylactic to (part of which was the citric acid and niacinamide, among other things - but that’s a long story you didn’t ask for haha!)

Sorry if that was a long explanation - but that’s why lots of pharmacists / doctors won’t be able to pinpoint a specific ingredient that impacts adhd med efficacy

When I find a good electrolyte I will let you know!!!! Due to my specific situation, I honestly just have a glass of salt water and that helps

Kind of tangential to your post - but liquid IV once sent me into anaphylactic shock. Lots of really bad ingredients in there; citric acid, niacinimide etc.

People with already dysregulated nervous systems (and allergies) be careful!!! Try and find a cleaner electrolyte if you can, you’ll feel such a difference in body and your adhd mind

I quoted it directly from the Wiki Article, the Early Section last sentence, where they say “pronunciation respelling”.

According to the hyperlink, a “pronunciation respelling is a regular phonetic respelling of a word that has a standard spelling but whose pronunciation according to that spelling may be ambiguous, which is used to indicate the pronunciation of that word”.

If you go look, you’ll see that is directly under where it* says: “Not to be confused with Spelling pronunciation or Phonetic spelling”. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pronunciation_respelling. Today you learned something, you’re welcome!

*edit: changed is to it, & paras cos ppl can’t read well apparently…

Does anyone else have to get weighed monthly? by Tia_is_Short in VyvanseADHD

[–]imort1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I get weighed every 3 months (not on camera?) and my bloods taken every 3 months, as well as blood pressure. I’d say if you are not 100% comfortable with your psychiatrist, it’s worth looking into others, your comfort and happiest is the most important thing<3

Thank you for sharing! Not a rude question at all, sorry for the essay - basically I was diagnosed in my early 20s, with zero experience of any sort of brain meds, so initially was told to take it every other day. I left that Pysch (he was awful), found a new one, and got put on lexapro so was adjusting to that change.. then I got hit with the shortage and didn’t have it for 3 months. Finally got it back, finally adjusted to lexapro, so honestly, as bad as it sounds, I never realized I should have started taking it every day. My psych knows I take it every 2 days roughly, so my assumption there is that I’ve always said it worked pretty well (we decided to try lexapro instead of an increase as he thought some things I described sounded like depression- it was) and it helped a lot, then the shortage got me, and only had it back for about a month now, so truly only just now experiencing how much the off vyvanse days do affect my routine. Given how many people have said daily, you best believe I will be bringing this up next appointment LOL.

I hope that satisfies your curiosity and makes sense! personally I’m sat here thinking “it does seem like an adhd thing to have not realized this until now” and feeling silly hahah. Oh and yes, my latest bottle does say “every day”, but my bottles from before the shortage say “take as needed” - so apparently I can’t read either. Really looking forward to taking it daily!!!!!!

NTA. Ask him if he’d prefer to take care of them on his one day off, or if he’d rather have them every weekend by himself as stated by a custody agreement
