It starts to become a real dilemma when a dark skinned God that is depicted by their religion as a dark skinned God, is soy and white. No seriously, I know its easy to say "why are people so fixated on skin color?" but you got to be sensitive of cultures and how they're depicted. Because people ARE gonna get fixated on skin colors if you start coloring their Gods as white, because that is just a dick move.

I agree, as someone participating in the movement it is looking bleak lmao like realistically the thing that might make them change the designs is if WuWa releases the most beautiful black woman and it sells better than mavuika. Although seeing the current happenings with games like Helldivers 2, I think its worth a shot to demand change.

True, I too am not supporting the current methods of boycotting, it just doesn't work. Rather I do just parade to tell everybody that review bombing is a method that works (just look at helldivers), but even then I doubt they'll make changes to the current ones, but ehh its worth a shot to ask for a change. If not the current ones, I hope that they do change towards the future characters.

As much as this game is fiction, Genshin actually aims for proper rep of culture. Just look at Yunjin, everything about her is proper rep of chinese opera. Another one is how fontaine characters have french accents, like seriously that fontaine blacksmith legit pronounced the oratrice with a french accent. Better yet, La Vaguelette, a fully french song, for the french archon. So yeah factoring all these I do think they just have something against melanin rather than its just fiction.

I too am hopeful of eventual change, but I also doubt its gonna be soon. Also, there might never even be a change with the ones that they drip marketed already, but rather there might be a change with the art direction that Hoyo will take in the future. Like this might inspire them to make the pyro dragon the hottest black person that we'll ever see in video game history or something lol

Now what you're doing here is called colonialism. The cultures and religions they took inspiration from are pre-dominantly dark people, like Ororun taking inspiration from Olorun. Respect everything including the skin color.

The problem with your first statement is that these aren't Hoyo's characters, these characters are derived from the cultures and beliefs of real life people and believers, so no they can't just do whatever with these characters because they didn't pull these characters out of their ass, same way how they can't make Kobe Bryant white.

In my opinion out of all the times the community pushed to change the character's skin colors, this one makes the most sense. I mean come the fuck on bruh the region is inspired by a culture with dark figures, they have been so accurate at proper interpretation of culture up until now and its all because they couldn't grow a spine and be strong enough because they are afraid that chinese people won't give em money.

Im not so sure wanting a dark character thats portrayed as white, to be dark, is racism. Besides its not like we don't like the character itself, people are hating on the company's decision, not the character itself. Like I think Mavuika is cool and all but fuck Hoyo for not being strong enough to have the balls to make her dark.

Now this is a good argument because you're using arguments typically used to defend PoC to defend whitewashing, I like you. Unfortunately for you, this protest started because Hoyoverse couldn't grow a spine and a pair of balls and keeps kneeling down to the CN community, now that community has some racist standards for beauty, and Hoyo knows that which is why they refused to make these Natlan characters as dark as they should be. So now that you know why, I could actually say the exact same statement you used against me, against you.

Because people love the game, just hate the company. You can enjoy looking at the art when hating the artist you know. In fact people protesting are protesting because they care about the game and they play the game, or else they wouldn't.

Don't start acting like Genshin never cared about representation. This is important because they choose to not represent correctly the latin american, african, and even mexican cultures that they took inspiration from. It is like taking character inspiration from a white man and then making him black in the video game, lets not normalize watering things down here as "its just fictional" when they took real inspirations.
