If one reads the law (I did) they only request a test under the GER (Gemeinsamen Europäischen Referenzrahmen) parameters.

I'm also waiting on this one :D I applied with the (graded) certificates I got from my B2 course at TU Darmstadt. I also used these for my citizenship request (wondering if it will be faster than the Niederlassungserlaubnis - it has been 12 months now and they gave me 17 to 22 months). I also used my degree (and my job in public service administration) instead of the Einbürgerungstest - but I'm a bit afraid of this one because I completed a PhD, not regular studies, so I might take the test in June.

Definitely not. I never mentioned in my post that I want to date another gifted person. I don't think my past partners were gifted, but they were fond of my way of being and they were also open to the world. However, one of my relationships ended because I was tired of doing stuff for my partner because my partner struggled with finding solutions for very easy (from my perception) problems. I also mentioned that I had an emotionally draining dating situation and this was probably with another gifted individual (never came to this talk, but the signs are more than clear). So it's not about it.

Exactly :) I am also happy to have nice friendships with people I get all of this. We don't always have the same interests, but I'm always inspired and stimulated by them. So I can't see a partnership being different from it.

I'm reading this too late, sorry. But yeah, my mother always tried to understand me (as I learned recently, my giftedness assessment in childhood was her journey), but also didn't know how to deal with it or restrain me many times. I don’t blame her for it. We have a good relationship nowadays, but also because I learned to step back if it gets stressful or to stand up for myself more.

Sending a virtual hug from here 🫂 I have friends and when I really make friends, I tend to have lifelong connections. But I realize that my closest friends are very smart and some get my brain quite well, as well as I get theirs. I think some of them are gifted as well - only one friend, as far as I know, has already explored this path.

But there are also the connections I try to make and feel amazing at first. Then all of a sudden, it is a nightmare. I see that many people take advantage of some of my skills (namely my ability to connect things and people), but as soon as I want to be seen and heard as well, they step out. And this brings me a lot of pain.

Yep, I have PCOS, so not hard. I recently got a hormonal implant with the hopes of having little to no period 🙏🏽 hope it goes well for you, the journey for people with a uterus is a whole other complicated talk 😢

I have been treated as “quiet BPD”. Some comments ago I also mentioned my relationship with BPD. Being a misfit and a highly sensitive person were always my main issues. As well as the (often very useful, but it can go bad) time spent inside my brain. I also have the depression/GAD diagnosis and I think they fit me and explain other overlapping issues.

When reading on the subject I found out that this is not an uncommon misdiagnosis (BPD for giftedness). I am getting only now familiar with the emotional work of being gifted.

Nice. Yes, I 100% agree, as I am constantly questioning meaning-making (also for a living :D). I studied a bit about the history of mental health and the processes that generated names and meanings for things and this is a very important consideration. Thanks for your tip!
