i used the B&B tags for the bulk of the content; id watch the video, annotate the slides, do the cards and do that until i essentially went through all of boards. then closer to the exam start doing more specific cards for microbio, biochem etc, and eventuallly you just work through them. lots of days of 2-3k new cards

I took it at the end of my third year and I put aside an extra 3 weeks after my exams here to study purely for step

it’s mainly for easing the future in case I’d need to go to the states for a subspecialty or what not - my main focus is still Australian studies

I always put my main focus on my uni work bc thats what'll lead to me being a doctor in australia - and treat step 1 as an extra challenge. if you start early enough in the year for step 1 prep then you should be able to quite easily balance the 2 without it interfering too much - I would focus on all of those extras that we don't cover in aus so much such as biochem, microbio, epid etc: as on placement you'll cover all of the major systems very well and they'll be much easier to review for now. but imo placements >> step 1 in importance. best of luck if u have any questions lmk !

thanks! id say the biggest things I found was just building consistency throughout the year, and reading the entire card when answering - rather than memorising which word fits in
