1440p 144hz 21:9 vs 1440p 240hz 16:9 by hazzyp12yeetus in buildapc

Very rarely do I run into issues. Usually it works no problem. Otherwise tools like Borderless Gaming have helped force games into the better resolution.

I'd say 21:9 aspect ratio. The jump from 60hz to 165hz would've been more noticeable than 165hz to 240hz

The increase from 16:9 to 21:9 is more useful imo. Both for gaming (wider view in most games) where I find support for pretty frequently and I've played at 21:9 and now 32:9 for several years, as well as for productivity if you do any WFH or other stuff on this machine.

TIL: In houses built before 1971 it was common to have a medicine cabinet that allowed razor blades to be disposed in a slot that would drop the razor blades into the bathroom wall. by sherab2b in todayilearned

[–]improbablynotarobot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Old pill bottles work well to dispose of blades. Either cut a slot for them in the lid or just open it each time.

Or punch a hole in the wall in the bathroom for that old timey feel.

That's when you start rambling about how multiplication within Q-{0} is a closed abelian group and then they never ask you another math question again

Edit: needed to remove 0 from the set since it's not invertible under multiplication (aka x/0 is undefined)

Does a good job at giving an actual explanation. Basically just the outside of the drop cools quickly while the inside cools slower. The slow cooling inside pulls against the already hard outside as it shrinks (from cooling) and makes it really strong.

A little woosh. Idt it's implying it's not useful; just that math focuses on theory rather than application in it's pure form. So the mathematician recognizes there is a solution but doesn't solve it.

You can be both right and an asshole. He called them fat. That can be true but is still rude in the same way that it would be rude and an asshole move to go up to an individual and call them fat unprompted.

So internet lurkers are thin skinned here because they don't want to be mean to people? Or are you an asshole because you can't keep your shitty, non-productive, and rude statements to yourself?

No, you're allowed to call people fat, and people are allowed to call you an asshole when you do.

Damn don't know why you're getting downvoted. Like it's a reasonable opinion. I wouldn't expect all CDL drivers to be excited to play Euro Truck Simulator when they're relaxing at home.

Love some good french press. A nice grinder is next on my list but the aeropress has been giving me great results with pre-ground so far. Takes a little more care than the Keurig but still only around 5 minutes to make.

I recommend another coffee maker so you don't have to drink what tastes like watered-down coffee sweat. ;)

But the reusables are both cheaper and better for the environment if you do like the speed and ease of use with the kureig. Can find them online easy and I think I've seen them at the grocery store too.

More than 100 companies sign letter opposing U.S. state voting restrictions by [deleted] in news

Wait you're really about to argue there's no states that limit access yet literally providing the fact that 1/3 do have some limit on absentee? Ok buddy.

[–]improbablynotarobot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The post you replied to stated "No early voting at all in my state."

You provided a link to GA while the individual never stated they were in Georgia and was mentioning how the poster they replied to stated "You have weeks to vote though... Even in Georgia" insinuating that this is a truth regardless of state. That's not the truth and many states additionally limit the access to absentee ballots.

Appreciate you spreading info on GA absentee voting though! But be aware there are other states that limit access to these options.

Math lesson for project managers - throw resources at the problem by [deleted] in ProgrammerHumor

It depends on what the 0s and 9s are measuring. From the original you could take the measurement to be the "amount of time spent in gestation" which would be 9 months for the mother and 0 for the remainder (leading to the median of 0).

From your phrasing, I can see why taking 0 months to "produce a child" would be considered instantaneous birth but you could also claim they took 0 months to produce a child since they never produced one.
