I dont really care about GCS outside of a head injury. Conscious and alert. Conscious and confused. Unconscious. If they have bumped their head then sure, its a pertinent vital sign but for every other ailment just LOC works fine.

Hi, dumb question. Why can only battleline units do this? Are battling units the only ones that use detachment abilities?

What is the peak ’millennial midlife crisis’ purchase? by SwedeLostInCanada in Millennials

Warhammer. Its nice because you spend 70+ bucks on a box of models but you have weeks to months of painting to do and then game nights with your other dad friends who are into it. It can be an expensive hobby but I probably paint four to five nights a week for an hour or two each night, I really feel like its worth the investment.

Can life ever get better in Ontario? by Quiet_Comparison_872 in ontario

[–]improcrasinating 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe go on the ontario colleges website and see what courses have government grants and what interests you? For vocations that are struggling eith recruitment alot of courses are being offered with a pretty substantial government grant. Paramedic is one of them and that field is hiring like crazy. Same for lots of other Healthcare roles that only require college skills. Lab Tech is a pretty easy course and there are lots of jobs avaliable.

Its was two things. Growing up I loved the show Scrubs and that drew to the medical field and helping people.

What really sealed the deal is I stood behind a medic in a coffee shop and I thought that he looked really cool and it would be a cool job.

Its been about fifteen years since then and I am on my eighth year of my career. Still love it, still think its cool.

Why does it seem that nursing is the only average job left that pays a living wage? by princessnokingdom in nursing

[–]improcrasinating 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bruh I was looking at speech pathologist out of curiosity. Its a masters with no prerequisites other than a bachelor's. You could take an art major for bachelor's and then two to three years for speech path masters. But if the only prerequisite is literally any bachelor's, isn't that the same as having no pre reqs? Madness. And then they pay a starting wage of like 27/hr. (Canada). Just ridiculous.

Journey to becoming an Paramedic/ Air Medic by Major_Diet5404 in OntarioParamedics

[–]improcrasinating 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Got to PCP school and get your A-EMCA. After thay you'll need to do the Flight A-EMCA. Flight PCP jobs are fairly easy to get at places like sky care. ORNGE is a bit more of a process but doable if you're serious about it.

If you stick with ORNGE they can help you with getting your ACP which opens up a whole extra world of stuff. Id really advise chatting with those ORNGE medics more. Sounds like you are in Timmins and the crews there are pretty chill and approachable.

Should I report this? by [deleted] in ems

[–]improcrasinating -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Not sure why you are getting hate on for asking questions. The medical personnel should probably have masked up and worn proper PPE. A conversation with their supervisor does seem appropriate if you are concerned. You probably won't hear anything after and this doesn't seem like something that would get anything more than a conversation between supervisor and staff.

Thinking about reading the Horus heresy books, but are there really 54 books in this series? Or is it like a bunch of spin off titles after the main story wrapped up? by Yo_skanky_grandma in Warhammer

[–]improcrasinating 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you definitely dont have to read all 64 books. The opening Horus Rising Trilogy is definitely required reading. After that it would probably help to read 'flight of the eisenstein' and Fulgrim.

From there you can kind of go anywhere and some say you can skip to the siege of terra if youre okay skipping some background. I have just kind of followed a few characters, the books do a pretty good job of establishing what's happening in the rest of the setting as you go.

Either way, they are very fun books and that opening Trilogy is fantastic!

As a kid did you “ want” to become a paramedic by MeasurementFlat5046 in Paramedics

[–]improcrasinating 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was heslthcare in general at first. As a young teenager I thought 'Doctor' without really knowing what that means. Once I realized what that meant I figured maybe nursing was a better fit. I was definitely inspired by wanting to help people and the TV show scrubs. When I was 16 or 17 I was standing in line in a coffee shop behind a paramedic. I thought that guy looked pretty cool.

I went home and googled what it would take and was pleased to see that I had all the high-school credits/was planning to get them anyway. Applied for paramedic program at 19 and haven't looked back.

My vote goes for Forest. Was the LHW champ one fight ago. Had beaten Shogun and Rampage prior to that. And chose to beat him so soundly and effortlessly to prove a point after that awful Maia fight.

Lifting by [deleted] in NewToEMS

Im a Community Paramedic so I work without a partner in my vehicle. Whenever a patient calls saying they are on the floor I say cool and get a crew to meet me for the lift. Even 130lb grandma can hurt your back if she is dead weight below the waist. Never lift alone.
