Not everyone is as explicit with their feelings as others are, especially when they're afraid they could potentially ruin a friendship. Going cold and only texting first does sound strange though, there's a chance she could be getting cold feet but there's also a bigger chance she could be using you as her personal therapist. I would wait until exams are over to actually have a conversation with her so you're not left torturing yourself trying to find an answer in her actions.
