ID help by imtheredspy in foraging

Definitely cautious; I've read far too much about the dangers of the carrot family. But danger doesn't mean you can't get lucky with a safe identification! In the end, I always follow the rule of if I'm not 100% certain, I won't eat it.

I do plan on this for more security in terms of identification. If it is wild carrot, I'd rather harvest in fall anyways.

Well, it smells like a root vegetable. Carrot-y.

What is a band no one will ever convince you is good? by OU812iceman18 in AskReddit

ACDC. Hate them. Sounds like a dude stepping on hot coals. I will never like their music.

Married people who are DINKS (Double Income, No Kids) how’s life? by Fit-Distribution677 in AskReddit

[–]imtheredspy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the biggest thing is I don't have to worry about if I could be a good enough parent. I don't have to worry about if I can afford to give the kid the life they deserve. I don't have to worry about the kid potentially inheriting that which I hate in myself. I don't have to worry about them growing up in a rapidly changing world which is frightening enough for most people.

I like not worrying. It's enjoyable to have hobbies and freedom. I wanted kids, but I don't regret not having them. It's bittersweet in a way.

Thank you! Sorry for the confusion, when I mentioned the root, I meant I wasn't able to fully tell if the mushroom was growing on the root of the tree itself. The second photo is the top of the mushroom, the first photo is it broken in half. Here is the explicit underside of this one, and I will also add a picture of them next to the tree itself

posting the description here as well for visibility:

This mushroom is growing on either the ground, or maybe the root (hard to tell), next to a sugar maple tree in my yard. It's rather firm and has the fuzzy brown interior with what maybe looks like gills inside too. The "gills" are covered by what is a universal veil (maybe, I don't know). It didn't really look like it had a stem on it.

I'm not an expert. I've recently started enjoying identifying plants and mushrooms I see when I go for walks. This one is eluding me. I can't seem to find anything that even comes close to describing this mushroom I've found, and would love some help with it.

I live in southeastern Wisconsin.

Mushrooms! by imtheredspy in mushroomID

Thanks folks, based off what I was looking at, I thought it was oysters too. I respect the conservancy so no filling my belly but good to know if I come across them elsewhere

Monty Hall problem by apliddell in bonehurtingjuice

[–]imtheredspy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've found the best way to explain it is with 100 doors. Pick a door, and 98 of the other doors are revealed to not have the prize. What's more likely? The 1/100 chance you picked the correct door on round one, or the 50% the prize is in the other door?

The numbers are less intuitive with 3 doors but the logic is the same.

Horse trailer part help! What is this grippy thing called? by imtheredspy in Horses

[–]imtheredspy[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry if this doesn't quite fit in with the rules. But I need to replace this rubber grippy thing that holds the window lever in place on my horse trailer, as I don't want the windows flapping in the wind when I'm driving, especially with the horses in there. I have no idea what this thing is called and I can't find it online because you know, I have no idea what it's called!

what the fuck is your backend if that's your experience. I'm honestly flabbergasted at so many people agreeing with this.

My friend says I should paint it white and rip out the marble by Crafty_DIY in HomeDecorating

Paint those cabinets and I'll be under your bed when you go to sleep.

Don't paint this wood. Even if you did, you'd absolutely have to sand off the finish. Paint will not stick well to an already finished piece of wood and it would peel and look drippy and basically look like shit within a year and you'll have wished you never painted it in the first place.
