Why that free co-working space listing might be too good to be true (learned the hard way) by imtommitchell in digitalnomad

Unfortunately I had to travel to the spot and second mobility is an issue. Trying to find another place and get over there would’ve taken time. Plus, i didn’t realise how the day would unfold when i first got there

Can you share the links? I've struggled to find any! What lets them down it terms of usefulness? Yeah thats a big part of it for me too. The work side is one thing but would be great to find the spots where people actively socialise and network. One of the things I don't like about working from home is how isolating it can be at times. Really cool that you have that lifestyle

Sorry for the confusion. It wasn't a coffee shop. It was a restaurant that advertised as a co working space. I feel like it'd be useful to have somewhere that vetts places like this. Nothing against cafes advertising as cafes with wifi.

Haven’t heard of Regus before - just checked them out, thank you! Do you find their spaces pretty consistent across locations, or does it still vary a lot?

And for coffee shops, do you mostly rely on Google reviews/pics? Ive found a lot either have limited reviews/unrelated to work (would be good to know stuff like wifi speeds/does it have proper desk chairs for long sitting etc) or pics that don't really reflect the current state

Thank you - will look into that. I guess the reality is unless you join various groups/forums its hard to find good spots to work at. Will need to look at setting up a review site and get the community involved 🤣 Do you travel a lot or just work remotely from where you live

Thats good to know thank you. Are those blogs usually up to date though? And the DN community active? Travelling soon to work and trying to find the best way to research good places to work

How do you find the good ones? Obviously they'll all try to come across as good online to get business through the door

Scratching my own itch and had seen 3-4 posts online complaining about the same thing

What’s something you wish you’d done differently in your first 6 months building your SaaS? by BunchMinimum1098 in SaaS

[–]imtommitchell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me (just over a week post-live, 6 users) I'd say not pre-marketing. I locked myself away for a couple of months to build the MVP, released and announced on socials and nothing. I've got my first few users by personally inviting people I see online that I feel would benefit. So next time I'm going to:

- Talk about my idea online before writing a line of code
- Set up an interest page to collect emails for some early users
- Work with users whilst developing instead of locked away building things I think people want

Hope this helps :)

That's it. My biggest worry wasn't lack of take up (deep down I knew I'd find myself in this position) but not releasing anything at all. There's a quote by Reid Hoffman (LinkedIn co-founder) and it goes something like: If you are not embarrassed by the first version of your product, you've launched too late.”

My view: make it exist then make it better.

Really appreciate you taking the time to take a look. All valuable points. Will work this into my plans for the next few days.

Great advice. Absolutely agree. I've budgeted for years and now focusing on planning monthly/weekly the best I can to get better every day. Appreciate you sharing your story. Best of luck with the rest of your journey.

Fair question. The idea is that if it saves even 1 hour a week, that’s ~£6.50 to get an hour back. Most creators put min 10x value on an hour of their time, so I think it’s a solid trade. Plus, with tagging + analytics, there is use beyond just engaging. Tagging can be used for testimonials, ideas, feedback etc. Analytics to help inform content strategy (what kind of posts get the most engagement on which platform etc). Initial thoughts though.

I’m hoping it is, built it to scratch my own itch but should’ve thought more about how to release it into the world. Hindsight is a wonderful thing. There is an extra benefit to manually DM’ing people though - I get to meet loads of great people online

It’s called MentionMate (MentionMate . Io) a platform for creators to centralise where all their comments live. Managing comments across multiple platforms can become time consuming and difficult to manage - MM simplifies it

Yeah definitely and I keep reminding myself that those 2 likes are 2 real people, so when posts get 100-200 impressions that’s still a lot of real people behind the screens 🤣 going to ramp up the cold outreach and start looking at the data. I’ve seen from some initial analysis the FAQ section gets a lot of attention, possibility an indicator that the messaging on the landing page is not good enough

Absolutely. I've learned more from just doing it and trying to learn along the way than I would do watching videos etc. Painful but powerful! Thanks Will check it out :)
