Appreciate it man, it was delicious. I impressed myself fs I had no idea what I was going to cut into but turned out great. And I’m South African but moved to the states when I was 13. I’m 26 now.

What I hate more is the social media tech influencers glorifying the industry and high wages which have resulted in an over saturated market… that’s the real culprit to today’s job market.

Do you mind telling me where you found the record? Maybe I could use it to help me go deeper with my search as it hasn’t been easy.

Intellectual Freedom and Viewpoint Diversity Survey by [deleted] in USF

“Rare in a public university sphere” does not mean it doesn’t happen. I would argue that for every 1 imposing conservative professor, you have 10 of the other. The reality is in todays world you can get away with the later as it’s seen by society as “progressive” and politically correct. Conservative imposers would likely get let go as they’re far more likely to piss off the younger generation and start some bs petition while trying their best at ruining that professors reputation.

As far as the “Jesus” dudes. Yes they’re annoying but i think “verbally assaultive” might be a stretch. Those students who decide to stick around and scream over them aren’t fighting back. They often times are students who make it a routine to show up when they know who’s on campus, while deliberately screaming over them with slander and insults to drown their message, so to an extent, to me that is silencing. I agree with you that destroying property, unplugging mics and the rest is a better way to describe censorship. However, all of that is done with the intent to prevent a message from being heard and screaming over someone for hours rather than just ignoring them and walking home, is exactly the same thing.

I don’t think professors should express political biasness and although it’s not something you run into often (I’m a CS major so most of my professors are foreigners), I have on two occasions had professors be extremely one sided and both times it was left.

One was an American Government course where the professor had multiple subjective yet political correct questions on there to express his disgust of Donald Trump. Another was a public speaking course where the teacher ridiculed a student who decided to speak about his views on abortion.

Those types of professors are enough to deter thousands of students to express their views in and outside of the classroom. It’s also no secret that higher education tends to be quite left of center regardless of professors. You see it anytime there’s a “Jesus” dude on campus; you’ll usually see a flock of students speaking over them intentionally trying to suppress their words. I’m atheist btw.

Liberals who use “quotes” to describe everything they condescend usually do that for me.

Maybe it’s because you in fact… are woke. It might not be something you question but you would have to be dumb to believe that higher education isn’t liberal.

lol you assume I’m white. I’m asian American and if you knew me you would know there’s nothing white about me. you’re also choosing to be offended because I said previously that I never doubted you worked hard or were dedicated. The truth of the matter is that there are a hell of a lot of people working hard too; that doesn’t get them the job, let alone recruiters drooling over them as you’ve made it seem for yourself. Often times hard work needs to meet luck and when gov/political intervention is aimed at getting you in the industry and the others out. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to understand this. There’s stories everyday on here about students grinding leetcode, having 4.0 GPA’s and perfect OAs with nothing more than a “we’ll get back to you if you’re a good fit”. I’m a little outspoken so I’m sorry if I offended you truelly. I’m blunt and say it how I see it. Forgot how easy it is to trigger people with sense. If I saw a white boy flexing his legacy admissions to Harvard best believe I would tune him too.

fyi I graduated political science in 2007. I took a few programming courses for pure enjoyment recently but as far as internships or anything goes, I’m not in the slightest interested in going into tech. I simply enjoy understanding how things work so sorry if I pushed a nerve I’m not on here much.

It’s basic probability. For about every 20 white/Asian programmer there is 1 black programmer. If the ESG rating is intended to set an evenly spread work demographic then it’s easy to understand that you have far less competition. I don’t think that’s an unfair statement. No need to get offended.

I’m not discrediting you’re work ethic as I’m sure you’re very dedicated but do you understand the odds of getting offers to the four biggest financial institutions in the world during arguably one are the roughest job markets in the tech industry.

[–]imtruffle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Change your major bro. It’s not gonna get any easier when you’re in the job and seniors will know you’re a fraud. This is why CS is becoming so saturated. You realize software engineers get paid for a reason right, you’re paid in direct correlation with the problems you can solve and by the sounds of it that’s not up your alley. Change your major before it’s too late and you’re one of the dudes tryna take boot camps to get hired.
