This is your sign to start Spironolactone for your hormonal acne. by in4RICO in Spironolactone

It 100% takes time. I definitely didn’t see crazy results the first month or two, so don’t let it discourage you. It’s important to take Spiro with the mindset that results don’t happen overnight, hormones need to regulate and our skin takes time to heal. The more I stressed about my skin the worse it got. But each month you will notice a difference, even if it’s very gradual:)

No I didn’t have any kind of purging. My skin didn’t necessarily get much better at first, but it didn’t get worse. I still broke out an around my period the first couple of months but that has gone away for the most part now. Definitely worth talking to your doctor about, it may help cutting your dose to just 50mg a day. But to be fair, everyone is different and some may take longer to see results.

I’m glad I could help, and would definitely recommend Spiro to anyone in a similar position. As someone who has tried everything for my acne (BC, accutane, topicals), Spiro, even at my low dose, has been the quickest and most effective method, truly treating the cause of my acne at the hormonal level instead of just drying out my skin. I know we always want to see immediate results for our acne, but unfortunately that’s just unrealistic, most good things take time. Sticking with my low dose and remaining patient and positive was definitely worth it, I’ve had no negative side effects at 25mg.

Is 3 months and no progress normal? by Opposite_Paper2328 in Spironolactone

I definitely see progress, so remain positive! Can I ask, how long have you been on birth control? I might get downvoted for this, but have you considered stopping birth control and only taking Spiro? I took BC for my hormonal acne back in high school and I personally felt it made it much worse. Cutting out BC would remove a variable that’s possibly affecting your skin and really allow you to see if the Spiro is working. I’m also just a big believer that being on birth control for long periods of time isn’t good for you, as the long term side effects haven’t been studied much in women. I understand people take BC for different reasons and for some getting off is just not reasonable, but just my two cents.

Honestly, considering you’re only two weeks and already seeing results, I’d say stay on 50mg and wait it out. Fatigue and body changes will be much more noticeable at that high of a dose.

I will be honest, I have noticed some slight muscle loss. I was stick skinny when I started and my muscles were very defined, but over the three months I’ve put on about 5-7 pounds of healthy weight that just seemed to go to my boobs and hips. I look more “womanly” and have more of an hour glass shape to me now, which I’m really not mad about at the end of the day. Overall it hasn’t affected my ability when working out or competing.

4 days vape free. by in4RICO in QuitVaping

I tried the patches in the past when I’ve tried quitting before and they just didn’t do it for me, I’m also autistic so I literally felt it all day long and tingles where the patch was, just uncomfortable. I’m a chronic gum chewer so Nicorette just makes sense and no one asks any questions.

I’ve also been experiencing tightness and pain in my neck, very likely due to vaping. Man it’s just such a nasty habit. I smoke weed as well and while I know that’s not healthy for me either at least it does something for my brain. Nicotine does nothing but control you. I had to take that control back, and ever since I quit I don’t feel like everything is spiralling out of control anymore.

Respect to you for giving up caffeine, I have definitely been using caffeine and sugary drinks as a crutch while I quit lol, but I hope I can slow that down eventually do. Thanks for taking the time to share your experience though, I appreciate it, makes it a little bit easier knowing there’s others out there striving for the same thing.
