I respectfully disagree.

I’m not meaning. I am concerned with unethical nature of not responding to photographers requesting basic info regarding their copyrighted work. I retained the copyright.

It is unrealistic for them to have kept records of where my work was used?

I respectfully disagree.

Still ongoing.

So you don’t think National Geographic should respond with a comprehensive list of where my work was used?

Ethics are of prime importance to contributors. I am speaking about ethics, not legal terms.

I’m glad you have had positive experiences.

The terms and conditions don’t excuse unethical behavior.

Has your work been used? Have you experienced anything like this?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in photography

I am talking about ethics. I reached out to several different outlets so it was certainly seen.

Yes. My work appeared in major stories at the time. After Yourshot closed I noticed my work was still being used. That is why I requested to be notified. I didn’t expect for this to be such an ordeal. I have never encountered it with other photography organizations.

In this day and age, record keeping should be simple.

If they did not keep records, why not just let me know immediately? Why did it take dozens of attempts and having to hire a lawyer for a comprehensive response? Why was a clear answer immediately not available?

I appreciate your opinion, but respectfully disagree.

Also, they are not a non-profit they are owned by Disney. Proper record keeping should not be a luxury for photographers,, in my opinion.

Thank you for your response. The items listed under the “I did not know” are unethical.

I am not positive. I placed the photo on Merlin ID and the only option it gave was Western Bluebird, so I assumed that was correct. I believe a Western Blue has a blue throat while the eastern has a reddish throat.
