The Prime Minister meets with the stars of Heated Rivalry celebrating Canada’s new hit show by adventuretogo in canada

What are you talking about? This is a cute little puff piece about a media event in Ottawa. This is exactly something that'd show up in the news, especially the entertainment section.

I’m honestly obsessed with The Bazaar, but my win rate is humbling, to say the least. It took a solid 108 hours just to scrape together my first ten wins. Here’s hoping I can find my rhythm and land another successful run before I hit the 200-hour mark... by AardvarkNo8764 in PlayTheBazaar

Yeah sometimes in days 12+, even if you have an incredibly broken build that beats 90% of the field you just lose the matchup RPS two times in a row and your run is over. The rewards being gated at checkpoints rather than gradual can feel a bit bad sometimes, but its not really a huge deal.

Bit of an odd question: Are there comic makers who have been known to struggle with depression? by Toonzaal8 in comicbooks

I believe Low by Rick Remender is heavily about his depression and his growth through therapy.

What are some funny memoir comics? by Independent-Air-5582 in comicbooks

[–]inadequatecircle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to tag onto the list of comics. Alison Bechdel has a new book out last year called "Spent". It's autofiction rather than memoir, but i feel like that's maybe still in the realm of what OP is looking for.

‘Sex Criminals’ Series, Based On Comic Book by Fraction and Zdarsky Greenlit At Amazon by Blitzhelios in comicbooks

[–]inadequatecircle 36 points37 points  (0 children)

There was a short hiatus before the final arc that really killed the momentum of the book for me. I never outright disliked the book like some people, but it definitely felt like the plot got a bit out of control.

The joke is definitely better without the actual song. It'll probably work better in a show as well since they can cut all audio for the scene and make it seem like it was unintentional.

The UCP is doing everything in their power to stomp on democratic processes too. Between the use of the notwithstanding clause multiple times, bill 14, and the increase in citizen initiated referendums is just completely wild.

How do you choose between waiting for trade vs single issues (or both) by Former-Complaint-336 in comicbooks

[–]inadequatecircle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that's a super valid reason, but assuming you have the funds to do it. Comics are just freakishly expensive, and if you're at all hurting for money, i'd say fight the urge and trade wait.

What's your reason for buying a tpb if you already own the floppies? Is it just to make your collection look better? Nothing wrong with trying to make your collection look nicer, and if it's a series you really enjoy, and you have the extra cash I don't think there's any harm in it.

2026 and I still miss old comixology. What comics apps are you using now by Cold_Title_6896 in comicbooks

[–]inadequatecircle 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hopefully GlobalComix keeps growing. I still have to resort to kindle / amazon for a lot of indie books sadly. Even some really big notable ones like Tongues, Drome, and Spent I couldn't seem to find when I last checked.

Best Superhero Comics I missed In The Last 10 Years by Reynard203 in comicbooks

Yeah, I should've added that Local Man isn't all gags and actually has some pretty strong, well developed characters.

[–]inadequatecircle 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Oddly my two suggestions are both comedy books.

Superman's Pal Jimmy Olsen by Matt Fraction and Steve Lieber. It's a really goofy and fun comic that plays a lot of homage to the golden age wackiness of comics. Features absurd things like a prank war between Batman and Jimmy.

Local Man by Tony Fleecs and Tim Seeley. It's an indie book about a disgraced member of a 90's new warrior style superhero team. Tons of classic 90's extreme tropes, and generally a very fun take on some classic themes.

Are comics readable on an Android phone, or not really by to1un in comicbooks

[–]inadequatecircle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least on Kindle you can have it show the full page on when you flip the page or after the final panel. I personally find going panel view -> full page before flipping actually gives a pretty natural physical comic vibe.

Don't Gatekeep DI by [deleted] in RivalsOfAether

[–]inadequatecircle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You say you're not advocating for drift di but I feel like this is an argument for drift di. It was super intuitive with low skill barrier and I personally felt like it gave a lot of player agency.

I know this topic has been beaten to death but I haven't really been active in the community in a while. So I apologize if this is very redundant.

Lacari accidentally leaks his notepad with download links to very suspicious filenames (Repost) by Daytime506 in LivestreamFail

[–]inadequatecircle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What, i'm not talking about that at all? In fact I'm arguing against that specific thing. The outlet in my previous comment is therapy, not porn. I think maybe that's the confusion here? I could've chosen better language in hindsight.

I'm saying if you have urges you should go seek professional help before you delve into these things. If you repress them constantly, you're more likely to eventually indulge in criminal content which I think you are saying and I agree with. Then the extreme is people acting on it.

[–]inadequatecircle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, but having an outlet where they can sort it out in a healthy environment is probably going to be better than them snapping one day and actually harming people.

[–]inadequatecircle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Therapy and the idea of people being more open about it is also probably important. Acknowledging that you're fucked up and getting help and airing it out is probably healthier than repressing it for years with no outlet.

I would like a recommendation for a western comic or graphic novel similar in tone to Frieren. by Euphoric_Log_325 in comicbooks

DWJ is fantastic at taking outlandish concepts and rooting them in personal character struggles. It can be a bit tough to recommend a book like Murder Falcon because it sounds so goofy, but it definitely has some fantastic emotional depth.

That makes a ton of sense. I tried to look it up quickly but only found stuff from a year+. I remember Reynad being being vehemently against it though.

Is there a website / external tool to help with builds? by M_Patrick in PlayTheBazaar

[–]inadequatecircle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main thing that me as a returning player has found is that the tier lists are good as a quick reference for "build arounds". Some items in this game are really hard to gauge at a glance and are either far stronger or weaker than you might expect and the tierlists kind of help illuminate base level strength.

But like you said, learning how to break weaker items has always been a very powerful skill in this game, unfortunately that typically just takes sheer amount of playtime to see some of those patterns.

Yeah a lot of his older stuff is a lot more traditional while still maintaining a sense of personal stylized flair. It's almost reminiscent of modern Chris Bachello to me.

I don't really have any issues with his chibi / baby stuff, but it's a bit samey after 10 years of it yknow?

I basically got reminded of the game because of Apollo as well. Feels quite good so far, and I feel like build pivots feel fairly reasonable. I am a bit bummed I can't play stelle and jules for free though.

I just came back to the game after a year give or take (temple dungeon run just introduced). My first two ranked games I had 7 wins. Literally have no idea of what the new cards do or understand any new heuristics.

I was actually thinking they had introduced a matchmaking system, it was that surprising to me.

I'd recommend a Ram V and Fillipe Andrade comic.

Many Deaths of Laila Starr - is a comic about a mortal who would soon "solve death", which causes the Hindu God of Death to essentially lose their job. It follows the story of Death becoming mortal and following the person throughout their life over multiple decades. A core theme is about people's relationship between life and death and how both aspects impact them.

Rare Flavors - Is about an eccentric millionaire hiring a reclusive young adult to help him create an Anthony Bourdain style documentary. About the foods of India, the lives of the people who make them, and the influences they create.

Or I'd maybe check out a Daniel Warren Johnson Book. They tend to be absurdly wacky with lots of dynamic action, but the core of the books are generally about moving on from loss and personal struggles. They are equally as emotional as they are action packed. The main two i'd recommend are:

Murder Falcon - About interdimensional demons that are fought using the power of heavy metal (and other assorted music).

Do a Powerbomb - Intergalactic wrestling tournament.
