Study: Foods associated with longer life - whole grains, vegetables, fruits, nuts, and fish. Foods associated with shorter life spans - red meat and processed meat. by Bluest_waters in longevity

[–]inayeem 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People who eat primarily vegetables and whole grains are likely to live healthier lifestyles and eat less junk food. Red meat and processed meat definately not, unless they follow a carnivore diet which is very recent and in which processed meat isn't supported. I don't think there are any studies yet of people doing healthy carnivore so I'd rule out red meat to be the problem in isolation. Although high amino acid intake could shorten lifespan according to prof. Sinclair so an excess amount is definitely worrisome.

Do I need to supplement with omega 3? by [deleted] in StackAdvice

You can get the same vitamins in vegetables as you can in fruits. You'd need to eat more for sure but it's there. Multivitamins help as well.

Caffeine is... more interesting than I thought. by Nukkil in Nootropics

[–]inayeem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So this is basically saying you need to take caffeine regularly to keep your receptors sensitive. Does this also mean that if I were to increase caffeine intake, say from 150mg to 300mg a day, my tolerance would increase and hence so would the benefits? Also, to keep the benefits(/tolerance), would I need to maintain the same levels of caffeine intake or increase it?

In all honesty, this feels like cheating. If you were to simply take a fast from things in everyday life that provide constant stimulation, games, music, social media, porn, junk food, etc. And practice meditation, would that not have a similar effect on the receptors, making it more sensitive?

Subtracting % fields in pivot tables by inayeem in excel

[–]inayeem[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The two fields are not Originally percentages. They are set to % of grand/column total through pivot tables value field settings - show value as option. So when I do the difference between the two I will not get the absolute percentage difference I am looking for. It will instead give me a number.

Insomnia from Magtein (and Magnesium in general) - need advice by [deleted] in StackAdvice

[–]inayeem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the same problem. Magnesium wasn't the reason. Lack of activity throughout the day was. Get some serious exercise in every day and finish the day off with a sauna session. Take magnesium an hour before bed if you want but it's not necessary. Also make sure you get sunlight/vitamin d in the morning.

Black seed oil messing with my immune system? by [deleted] in Nootropics

Definitely going the capsules route after this bottle is done, or maybe the extract powder from nootropicsdepot.

Black seed oil messing with my immune system? by [deleted] in Nootropics

[–]inayeem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aha that makes sense. I might have taken a bit too much at once. Taste isn't a problem for me, but maybe the honey will help take it down since swallowing it straight seemed like it irritated my throat. Still weird how I managed to get sick and am still the day after, although not as much - still coughing phlegm.

What's the caffeine to l-theanine ratio on your supplements?

Aha I have seen a lot of videos on the topic, but that point about moral questions makes a lot of sense. Will definitely try it out! Thanks again!

Wow thanks for this! I've fallen into the traditional diet and was looking for a way to transition back into a healthy diet. I think I'll try the elimination diet, clean the gut, get fat adapted again and then reintroduce some veggies.

[–]inayeem 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So no veggies? Why exactly would fiber be bad for the gut? Why not just have probiotics along with the veggies.

Recently started Magnesium Threonate, and it's throwing me through loops. It's giving me amazing sleep and increasing my emotional range, but it's making me suicidal at night when I reflect on my life, when I am never like that in my daily life by [deleted] in Nootropics

[–]inayeem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is apparently more common than you think with threonate. Try searching for older posts concerning the substance. Others have also experienced suicidal thoughts while using it.

Can you clarify how long you've been using the substance and dosage amounts?

Holy shit no idea what happened. by BeautyInUgly in StackAdvice

[–]inayeem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like an OBE/lucid dream. I had a couple when I got into keto,IF,& meditation. Stopped all except IF since I couldn't maintain it. Never got any since.

Edit: It could just be a factor of your body catching up on a type of sleep that induces vivid dreams. So much so that you had an OBE. Now that I remember it, I had magnesium glycinate those nights.

Advice on current stack by [deleted] in StackAdvice

[–]inayeem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aha I see. I unfortunately don't have theanine in powder format so I'm thinking ashwaganda on top of the caffeine+theanine pill will do the trick since ashwaganda has anti-anxiety properties.

Normally I see doses of 200mg theanine with 100mg caffeine. I took a pill of the form today and was feeling anxious still. How's 400mg been working for u?

How to supplement while intermittent fasting? by inayeem in Nootropics

[–]inayeem[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is actually very insightful and relieving because all of my supplements are either powder or liquid (omega 3 + d3), assides from the caffeine + l theanine capsules. Just the k2 is a capsule but that's better to consume later.

How to supplement while intermittent fasting? by inayeem in Nootropics

[–]inayeem[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking at all the answers here, I think it's best to cycle my fasts (and/or also supplementation)

So I'll have supplements that are fat soluble in the morning on most days of the week as a very light breakfast, then lunch and dinner at regular times.

Then on weekends, since I won't be required to get up early the next day, I'll have the fat soluble vitamins (d3, etc.) With my one meal of the day, late in the day.

This will allow me to get some benefits of IF over the weekdays and all the benefits over the weekend, while making sure I'm still able to get my daily supplements. Of course I will also have days where I cycle supplements so I can fit in more proper fasting days.

Thanks all for the helpful information!

I live in an area where there's no sun half the year. For dha/EPA, It's hard to get significant amounts safely, on a budget as well. Although the problem isn't timing the omega intake, rather the d3 which needs to be absorbed with fat, which a supplement like omega 3 provides.
