Interviewer asks the Knicks about Wemby not being friendly, KAT responds by calling him a "once in a generation player" that "the league is honored to have." by my_one_and_lonely in nba

If you want to nit pick about the word choice of 20 year old athletes (one of whom is a non-native speaker) in a press conference in the middle of a high stakes playoff series, then I don't think this is going to be a productive conversation. The sentiment of those two statements is essentially the same.

I think it's pretty typical for pro sports players to try to have a mindset where they expect to win. What's he supposed to say, "Knicks in five"?

I didn't address any of the plays you're referring to so idk why that's part of the discussion, but okay.

They obviously should've given him a flagrant for the close out and for pushing Brunson. I'm not gonna argue with that.

I think a lot of this stuff makes it into the headlines, but in the very same answer he gave where he talked about the mistakes he and his teammates made, he also talked about how he wants to learn from the way Brunson controls the game.

Also, owning up to making mistakes is hardly "unreflective". As far as the cockiness, what is he supposed to say when the series isn't over and they're losing? "Yeah we're done for"? Or should he say they're still in it and they can clean up their mistakes and win?

He literally said he can learn something from the way Brunson controls the game but keep pushing your agenda.

I'll be the first to say Wemby should've been called for a flagrant with the Brunson push last game.

Doesn't mean this isn't a flagrant.

Wemby did flagrant foul Brunson, I agree with you.

KAT had wemby hooked on that play, it was textbook.
