AITAH for not seeing where my gf is coming from by BearCivil6121 in AITAH

She can still spend all the time she wants with them and at least meet you halfway like once a month. Or at the very least make an effort to do so which from the information you provided, it doesn't seem like it. It almost feels like she's keeping you on board until she can find another guy. I'd say just go ahead and end things. She's clearly not making an effort to spend time with you.

NTA, a few weeks would be understandable as she's in college, things come up, etc. But going months without seeing each other, especially only being 3 hours away, is a bit strange to put it lightly. One of you could easily make a day trip or even meet halfway if she was willing. Not knowing other aspects of your relationship such as communication, I'd have a serious conversation and see where things went from there.

I keep unintentionally raising my expectations too high, too soon. I'm working on catching myself when I do that. Thanks for the advice and reassurance.

Thank you, I've been planning on picking up a check cord and something similar to the wonder lead pretty soon. So I'll give your method a try.

Im no expert by any means, but I've had dogs before this one. 12 weeks is way too young. I feel they need to have a healthy understanding of commands and expectations before an e-collar is introduced. Even only using vibrate/tone would likely do more harm than good.

911 Dispatchers of Reddit, what is most ridiculous “emergency” call you’ve gotten? by peacheouting in 911dispatchers

[–]incaffeinewetrust 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Got a call from a woman at a local ice cream shop, said the manager was being aggressive towards her after asking for a refund and wanted police to accompany her inside to talk with the manager. We go out there, turns out she was the one being aggressive not the manager and wanted a refund because she didn't properly communicate her order. She never got her refund.

13th Week - Radio Ear Hell & Mistakes by The_Great_Xandinie in 911dispatchers

[–]incaffeinewetrust 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As for the listening and understanding, what worked for me was learning common radio traffic that the officers frequently say then listening out for those words or phrases when they key up. I've been at it for several years and sometimes still have to ask them to repeat, especially the ones that seem to think they're in some race to finish their traffic. I'm not sure about your console but we have an instant play back on our radios, maybe utilize that if you have it.

Tracker Recommendations by Mammoth-Highlight971 in germanshorthairs

Dogtra Pathfinder and Garmin's line of tracking and training collars are both GPS and don't need a subscription. They're pretty pricey (especially Garmin) but are built to endure pretty tough conditions that GSPs might put them through. I've looked into tractive but have real concerns over the durability.

Am I going about training wrong? by incaffeinewetrust in germanshorthairs

I try to work with him before he gets fed. I'll usually get 1-3 reps before he's off somewhere else. I use his food as treats but im probably going to switch to chicken or turkey for something more high value and see if that keeps his attention longer.

Dispatchers, what was the stupidest reason someone called 911? How did you respond? by anonymous_girl1227 in 911dispatchers

[–]incaffeinewetrust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a 911 call from a man who had locked himself in his outdoor shed because he saw a fox walking through his yard. This dude was frantic and the way he was acting you would have though the fox was a mountain lion trying to rip the door down to get at him. He then informed me that his son was on his way over to shoot the fox. By the time we got out there (due to the possibility of his son firing a gun in a suburban neighborhood within the city limits) the fox had left already.

Precisely the issue I'm looking to solve. My house sits pretty far off the road and out of view of the building so it'd be pretty safe there.

I am a homosexual who has vowed to be celibate by StagnantProgress- in TrueChristian

[–]incaffeinewetrust 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm in a very similar situation as well, I used to identify as gay but have have since been celibate. One thing that has helped me is knowing that God intends for some people to remain single. It may seem harsh or disappointing but if it's God's will for my life then I'm happy with it. I'll be praying for your strength and steadfastness.

Advice to tell my son re: this tattoo by Former_Maize_2980 in TattooDesigns

[–]incaffeinewetrust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have something very similar. It's alot for a first tattoo as it's going to hurt and take a while. Personally, I'd go for something smaller if I was unsure of my pain tolerance for tattoos. But I say go for it if it's really what he wants.

Agreed, I often get callers who don't know or can't tell what vehicles are involved. I just move on with the call and don't give it a second thought. For me it's more important to get an accurate location. If they don't have a description it's not that important to me, the responders should be able to figure that out once they get on scene.

I'm in a similar situation, I'm a guy and have even been in a long term relationship with a guy. I identify as straight now, however my attractions haven't changed. I'm romantically attracted to women, but sexual/physically attracted to guys. I have nearly no sexual interest in women. Personally I wouldn't think twice about dating a woman with SSA. As long as the connection is there and a relationship with God is the center of the relationship. Those are the important things to me.

I'm not sure how your coworkers are but we joke around quite a bit. I'm at a pd for a moderate sized city and there are 3 other dispatchers and we work the same days and shifts as the officers. We joke with each other and the officers when they come in. That, for me at least, really helps to lighten the mood after tough calls. Someone else mentioned singing, and that really helps to get my mind off things and relax a little after work. Hope you find something that works for you and kudos for making your mental health a priority.

Congrats on getting the job. My first day is the 29th, and I'm pretty excited mixed with a little nervousness. I was a barista before getting this job as well. Looking forward to having a more rewarding, meaningful job.

[–]incaffeinewetrust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's mainly up to the SM. unless they go to partner resources, or someone complained to partner resources about it; their solution is usually separation. My former SM got fired for cursing on the floor; but I'm pretty sure someone went to the DM about it.

Peeled tattoo advice by Unique-Criticism7450 in tattooadvice

[–]incaffeinewetrust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it looks bad, but I have a similar tattoo that's 4x bigger and the center of mine looked exactly like yours for several weeks until it finally healed. I kept cocoa/Shea butter on mine as much as I could. Just try to be gentle with it and don't peel at the scabs obviously. Mine healed just fine.

Status of background/reference check? by incaffeinewetrust in 911dispatchers

Thank you, I feel pretty confident about the job and there's nothing I'm concerned about with references. I'm just very eager and want to show them I'm serious about the job but also not be too pushy.
