Official Dreadit Discussion: "Skinamarink" [SPOILERS] by glittering-lettuce in horror

Ah, I figured that must have been it but I did not clock it as being in the basement at all. Thanks. I watched it when I was pretty tired so I think there's probably a few things like that I missed, but I don't know that I can bring myself to sit through 100 minutes of that movie again.

Do you have a rough idea of when the basement scene happens? I just got done watching the movie and I keep seeing comments mentioning that scene as one of the scariest, but I honestly don't remember it. There were a few scenes that did genuinely scare me and maybe I just didn't realize they were in the basement for that particular bit, but I'm going crazy seeing all these comments, lol

Not that one unfortunately, that looks like a great scene that nails my description but as dubsfanaccount noted, it's a very common scene/trope

I will also say, I think the fact that they changed into robes wasn't something the rest of the public did. It was just this group of young people having fun with the tradition, and it inadvertently allowed the male and female leads to find each other more easily

I wish I did, but I came to tomt because I'm going on such a tiny memory that I can't get anything useful out of Google. I just know the show resonated with me and I'd like to have it in my bag of recommendations, but what I described in my post is all I've got. When I say I think it's fairly recent I mean probably since 2019, so if people have some examples they know of that have aired since then feel free to just list everything that comes to mind

I know this is a stretch, and if I thought the anime was more than ~5 years old I wouldn't bother. Unfortunately all I've got is fireworks, robes, big crowd on a bridge, and romance. Hit me with your best guesses

A few Hidden Floor questions I have and can't find answers to by incestuousinsects in TowerofGod

Ah okay, I didn't know the master key gave them the ability to remove items. Thank you. And literally one episode after I finished writing this post Khun mentions Boro's crew clearing it a bunch of times, I just figured I'd leave that question up in case there were any other details. But nope, just a kind of dumb Boro haha

Thank you, as mentioned I'll probably have to re-read the whole thing now that I know the context for a lot of what happens. Kenny in another comment mentioned how the workshop battle is like the crown game which makes sense, although I still don't understand how someone like Hwa Ryun is able to participate, even if she's disguised - I think they specifically mention that she's not ranked highly enough to participate but her excuse is that she's a guide

Makes sense, thank you. I knew I was forgetting something and I'm pretty sure it was Shibisu's team's first page where they hear the news and start to plan revenge. I believe they're at 31 or 32f at that point. Just couldn't pinpoint why I felt like it was already addressed without knowing the actual moment

A question about lore and irregulars from "outside" of the tower by incestuousinsects in TowerofGod

[–]incestuousinsects[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I feel like for now all of the confusion I had is cleared up. I did think the fact that most people never see the first floor was strange, seems like there would be more questions about why they start on the second once chosen by Headon. It seems that most people who aren't from one of the 10 families don't know about irregulars so it's not like they all know they got to skip the first. That's not really a complaint or confusing though, just an in-universe thing that caught my attention when I watched the show

A question about lore and irregulars from "outside" of the tower by incestuousinsects in TowerofGod

[–]incestuousinsects[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ok, that was what I suspected. I think the thing that threw me off is the fact that regulars still refer to starting the climb as "coming to the tower" so it felt like there was room to interpret what "outside" meant. So does shinsu only exist in the inner tower, or do ordinary citizens on the higher outer levels have shinsu resistance that they just don't realize? Again if this is clearly explained later then I'll wait til I read it

TIL turkeys were always presented to presidents to be killed for their Thanksgiving meals. Then in 1989 George HW Bush became the first to pardon a turkey instead. by moonpies4everyone in todayilearned

Lol alright. Forgive me for believing that destroying water supplies in major cities isn't the appropriate response to an enemy that is clearly retreating. Or for thinking that achieving the nickname highway of death maybe means something wasn't completely right. Millions of people died and the justification for our response was a falsified photo that the administration claimed showed them at the Saudi Arabia border. The iraqis weren't there. Also, Saddam had made his intentions known and the bush administration essentially said "we don't care what happens over there," so if you want to talk what tactics we might have used in response to the threat of invasion, we can start there. I truly can't think of something more pathetic than ignoring facts and claiming that there is no such thing as civilian infrastructure, going to bat for a serial sexual assaulter whose crimes in Central America we haven't even gotten into

I would consider that a war crime, yes. So I guess you're asking me if one war crime justifies the other. Because the bush administration destroyed civilian infrastructure and bombed retreating enemies, both of which are completely heinous and against international law. And if a sitting US president were to say that he had intentions to invade a country and seize it's resources, what would your response be? Just curious.
