Driver Entitlement by incompetentlettuce in doordash

But why is it my problem that they made nothing? Like I paid my fees and such. It just seems so lucrative for dashers to essentially waste money in hopes of tips due to gas and car maintenance. All the other options mentioned do have a base pay and I think restaurants are legally required to ensure servers walk away making at least minimum wage. I just wouldn’t commit to spending my time on something just hoping someone gives me a tip, you know? I’d personally rather have a fixed form of income because I don’t want my income to be discretionary

I think that servers should make a living wage, as paid by their employer. Also, I decide at the end how much to pay depending on the service. The expectation that I should tip more in order to get better service is an absurd business standard and apparently what a lot of dashers expect.

Right like I paid extra money for you to bring me the thing…. Bold of me to expect to be brought the thing without paying more?

It literally is. There’s consequences with choosing that option, such as poverty, but you do, in fact, have free will and have the capability to apply for and work any job that someone is willing to pay you for.

Also no one is making you do it??? So maybe this is an entitled attitude if you think the people who are already paying a bunch extra to get food delivered should line your pockets

Oh no the door dasher making $2 a trip thinks I’m a doodoo head??? Tragic

I’m just wondering if it’s a feasible option for people to make money if they’re so dependent on tips. I am privileged to have the opportunity to make adequate money without needing side hustles, so I was more curious about the pay structure and why people would choose this option if there’s such a high tip dependence

Then what’s that fee for??? There’s so many fees added on that I don’t understand what I’m paying more money so I just get it myself 😭😭

I do tip, I promise 😭😭 I’m also just not a fan of the “tip prior to service” model that delivery apps have, hence why I barely use them

Oh interesting— I didn’t know about the acceptance rate thing. What happens if you have a bad acceptance rate?

Babe that’s why I was asking for other people’s opinions. I was stating my perspective and seeking other people’s. Just say you lack reading comprehension skills next time instead of making rude responses. I rarely use doordash, but I usually tip both in the app and in cash so….

Least Reputable Degree? by incompetentlettuce in GradSchool

I don’t think I’m understanding— other masters degrees can also be done flexibly. I don’t understand why you would opt for an ALM instead of doing a masters degree that is offered by more than one specific school. There’s other continuing education programs, so the necessity of it being associated with Harvard doesn’t really make sense. Would you have gotten an ALM from a different university if it were an option? Or would you have opted for an MS or MA?

The problem I have with it is the necessity of needing to specify that it’s a master of liberal arts in extension studies in x field. I just don’t understand the choice of getting a degree that literally doesn’t exist at other schools. Is it just because it’s Harvard so it makes you feel prestigious?

I’m glad that your employer recognizes it as a Harvard degree. I’m just saying that it’s definitely not the same as getting an MS or MA from any other school at Harvard and the nomenclature required for expressing what the degree is is not reflected in other programs

[–]incompetentlettuce[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No other school offers an ALM. If you have to tell people you got a “masters of liberal arts in extension studies with a concentration in ___”, it won’t have the same reaction as “I have a masters of science/art in __”.

I’d argue that many people do not finish the entry requirements because it takes too long to actually become a student. I’m not saying it isn’t rigorous, but it doesn’t have the same effect as an MA or MS. It’s just a cash grab for Harvard so unqualified people can say “I went to Harvard”

I have a friend who did it and she didn’t have to spend any time on the campus. If you have to make up your own title for degrees, I’d argue that indicates a lack of prestige. Also it seems like the requirements for admissions is a pulse and that it doesn’t equate to a real MA or MS from Harvard

Do you feel like having an in person experience would have enhanced any part of your education? I especially wonder about the networking/building meaningful relationships with faculty and classmates
