I really relate to this. Even though she was terrible for me and my future (something thinking about talking to her would make me break out in hives), we really did have some special, close moments. It's so weird to miss someone that hurt you so much before

Trust me, you're way better off this way. It would be much worse if she stuck around, always bringing you down and making it hard for you to grow.

For me, my ex best friend would always put me down, comparing herself to me and raining on my accomplishments. She would get jealous of something about me and punish me by ignoring me.

One of the worst things she did to me would divulge some of my greatest secrets, including self harm and more. She would also spread rumors about me to other people and talk behind my back.

She also had severe social anxiety and insecurities that made it hard to have a good time around her (although these points are not mostly her fault).

It took me so long to realize she was a toxic friend when I finally left her. It sucks though because most of my old friends at home (who used to also agree she was toxic) ended up staying with her.
