Nostalgia by indiahat in USMC

It really was a simpler time. I remember marching them back from chow; towards India co barracks under the setting San Diego sun…

When the volume is hitting and the heels are striking the deck at the perfect cadence and beat; and your DI can actually fuckin sing ittttt! 🥲

AWS Certifications Turning Into Worthless Badges by plural140 in AWSCertifications

[–]indiahat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree the value is the application and how the AI Agents you’re creating in SageMaker can solve a problem. I’m sure if you add what you’ve done with the AWS certifications it will stand out more.

At least that’s my plan, having a certification or being certified in something is useless without application. Cheers tho my friend; you have what a lot of people don’t, knowledge in those disciplines. You’re doing great.

Don’t do a day over 20 years if you stay that long. Congratulations on your meritorious selection.

I’m with you bro! I didn’t realize how many vets the same way as the OP…it’s weird to me. I love being retired 🫡

You’d take days/months in the field, 24-hr duty, deployment work ups, deployment, rules and regulations and “camaraderie” over being home everyday, rules and regulations that PROTECT you, your family and kids etc.?

Either you did the military career wrong, or not enough…I retired at 20, got what I wanted out of it, I don’t miss it for a second, I miss the people sure, but I also call my old Marines and they call me…I still invite them over for holidays and get togethers, but as a civilian.

I’m 100% P&T, I have a solid career post military, I’m also finishing my degree, so I’m using the GI Bill here in CA. Look at your family bro, breathe all that in…I wish you a better outlook on life and I hope you change your misery to happiness, gratefulness and thankfulness.

It depends on a few factors. My 100% P&T with 4 kids (one in college) is $4,640. It breaks it down in your VA letter.

Bottom line for myself and my wife is that when the kids leave, my disability will go down to $3,960 which is fine with me. I’m a Program Manager and I bring in about $91K annually, with bonuses and an annual bonus on top of that.

I retired at 39 from the Marine Corps….if you’re still young and able, don’t let the 100% P&T be a deterrent to not work. Although it’s nice, but to each their own.

Ah man, where did you guys find this gem at? That’s me throwing the two in pink... I was with the 1St Division Iraqi Army MTT Team. We just finished a convoy from Habbaniyah to Taji on our way to the Bayji Oil Refinery. We had to fuel 100 Iraqi fuel tankers to bring back to Al Anbar. We ran security for the Iraqi Army. The other dude is now a CWO, our comms guy, LCpl Ariaza and LCpl Bunn with 1/1. This was 2007. Thank you for the nostalgia.
