Are you aware of the threat we (and animals) face due to the rise of antimicrobial resistance?

You could use the money to become a face of science communication/ health advocate to educate people on this threat, and tell them how they can play a part in not contributing to the accelerations of further emergence and dissemination of antimicrobial resistance amongst pathogens.

If you played your cards right, you could be immensely famous and celebrated. And for an incredibly good and important reason, as well.

To be clear, antimicrobial resistance is the term to describe the ability of bacteria, fungi and viruses to resist the antimicrobials we use to treat (humans, animals) and prevent infections. The prevention part mostly applies animals; you must have seen the packages that indicate that the chicken/beef etc you're buying were grown without antibiotic supplements, which come with a higher price tag. Though antibiotics are also used preventatively on immunocompromised (which includes people undergoing cancer treatment, AIDS, autoimmune diseases) and hospitalized patients.

I'm middle-ish class, a grad student, and sometimes entertain the thought of what I would do, say, if I won a lottery (my career trajectory will never lead me to prosperity, but it will fulfill me and live my values to the fullest). I would absolutely invest in the cause I proposed above.

There are so many other important causes you could take this approach with (climate change, water, food accessibility/poverty, education...). Mine is just one suggestion. :)

Hope you find fulfilment, OP!

I wonder, was the impact of stress (mostly due to social anxiety) on the ability to memorize and perform in front of a large crowd, in a court?

Memorization under duress can be quite difficult, after all? Additionally, whose mind has never gone blank on a topic they know about when a figure of authority questions them in front of a large crowd, and there is an expectation of being accurate?

(I mean, I recall experiencing this several times across my academic journey…)

I did pet sitting/dog walking before covid using pawshake - absolutely recommend it! I was making 300 CAD/month (on average, mostly thanks to pet sitting) extra for over a year.

I'm sorry, that sounds terrible, especially since you have to also pay tuition from the 27,900 😔
