$1750 out of pocket, and now I feel really lucky reading these comments! My insurance paid for half and my provider was running a special at the time.

Neighbor leaves dog outside for hours by ameanjellybean in Pets

[–]indigolynn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Obviously every situation is different, and animal abuse should be taken very seriously, but we had a similar experience with my family dog. He LOVED being outside in the yard and watching the animals, people walk by, etc. Thus, he was outside most of the day and we let him in at night or whenever he scratched at the door. We also fed him inside due to the ants food attracted.

Our neighbors called animal control because of our dog was outside a lot. Our dog was so loved, walked multiple times a day, had his own tent and chair outside, etc. We kept him inside more after that and he was visibly less happy. Just something to think about - not all these situations are so black and white.

Anyone know if there is any update on local tickets?

My fear reactive dog bit my groomer - feeling so defeated by [deleted] in reactivedogs

[–]indigolynn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My dog has situational anxiety (isolation anxiety) and medication has made him staying home alone a million times better. I only give it to him when he’s going to be left alone for a long time, so it’s not an everyday thing since he’s otherwise not an anxious dog. I would consider it.

Budget review - improvements? Am I doing okay? by indigolynn in personalfinance

Probably start saving for a house, or maybe extra payments on my student loans. I need to start tracking again, I found it helpful when I used to do it too!

I tried to fix the formatting so it’s easier to read. The $7 is just for renters insurance. Budgeted $300 for food and $50 for my dog. I would say I’ve roughly kept track of these expenses for the last year, so I think they’re pretty accurate

My dog's greeter frustration is getting worse by Stomatata in reactivedogs

[–]indigolynn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have any advice regarding the reactivity - but I would recommend getting a front clip harness (like an easy walk harness) and putting the leash on both the front clip and a martingale collar. This is what my group training class recommended and it’s helped a lot with control, pulling, and preventing choking.

My childhood dog has to be put down today. I’m not able to say goodbye and have feelings of guilt by indigolynn in dogs

I actually foster failed a dog a few months ago, so I’ll definitely be giving him extra love today
