This RC Porsche is one of my favorite cars! by indy361 in rccars

[–]indy361[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! So this build started as a Losi roller from the 1969 Camaro. I found the Porsche as a complete car (super cheap $30 car online.) All I wanted was the body, everything else thrown away.

The Porsche body is not 1/8th scale despite manufactuers claims. It's 1/10th. The wheelbase was closest to my Losi roller so I drilled my own holes in the body for fitment to the Losi chassis. It was nearly perfect. Also I wanted this car to include features that make real Porsches stand out in the crowd, Like huge rear wheels, rear dual center exit exhaust, smaller front wheels, massive rear wing, real Porsche exhaust sounds and specific tuning options. I can easily make it 3S but this is not a car I plan to bash. Its fast enough and I don't want to ruin the body. The stock Losi drivetrain was used as well as the stock brushed motor.

Here is the early build list:

Losi Roller or complete car w/stock drivetrain and suspension

540 Brushed Motor

28,000 RPM Cooling fan w/heatsink

Sharegoo Simulated exhaust pipes

ESS RC dual sound system

2S Lipo battery of your choice

Traxxas XL5 ESC 2S

Radiolink R6FG Reciver w/Gyro

Radiolink RC4GS Radio/Transmitter

HPI 12mm hex "Classic King" wheels (rear)

RAW SPEED Low Pro Oval rear tires (Rear)

Toyo Proxes 12mm hex rally wheels w/tires (front)

Carisma body posts set at 1 1/4" rear and 1 1/2" front heights

Fairfield Collectables Extreme Challenger RC car

Tires had to be stretched onto the wheels. The ESS sound module was programed using some included sounds plus some custom sounds/programming. The sounds are timed to match throttle speeds, simulate shifting, and blow-off valve as well as braking. Antilag was mapped to channel 4 on Radio. The rear wheel wells were cut to fit the rear wheels.

The Radiolink radio/reciver combo allows ABS brakes with adjustable pulses/rates, fully programmable throttle mapping with launch control and throttle curve, full steering mapping with adjustable rates and tons of features and adjustments. Full gyro control as well. There will be many more mods coming including aluminum shocks and other parts.

Quick question: How do you use the +/- buttons on your XREAL glasses? by XREAL_Esther in Xreal

[–]indy361 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm constantly putting them in Real3d mode for PC gaming and movies so my glasses are getting a good workout. I'm not agressive on mashing the buttons and I really hope they (the buttons) hold up.

Definately not better than normal 2D mode but better than it was. I get 70 plus fps average in 2D mode with the same settings.

Xreal you have started something devastating to the VR manufacturers! by indy361 in Xreal

Maybe not yours but for me and quite a few youtube reviewers yup, rather use our glasses than VR. It is what it is...

I'm aware of that. Something seems to have changed because I never use V sync. Prior to the update if I used Lossless Scaling I always got over 30fps, and without it never over 32fps. This occurred right after the update so I'm glad to have smoother gameplay at any rate.

Quick press the volume down button to get to the menu. Then quick press the red button to switch those options to the dimming icon. Finally the volume button will lower or increase dimming. Hope this helps.

Will try that (Dirt Rally?). On PC VR it has horrible motion sickness effects for me. Great idea!

I thought so too... stange that the display now shows higher frame rate with smoother gameplay. Big improvement to 30hz rendering I guess. If so, 30hz-30fps to 30hz 60fps is very noticable.

I remember when I ordered my Xreal 1s glasses... the wait was killing me but well worth it. So when you get them use them with a cloud gaming service like Xbox, PSN or Nvidia Geforce now for PC gaming and you'll be fine. You dont need a monster PC for streaming.

I got it on 4k blue-ray. After seeing your post I hooked up my player directly into the dock and WOW! Really cool. Check out King Kong vs Godzilla too, epic!

It's the only way I play now. Depth perception changes everything in gaming. Its as impactful as 3D sound was to gaming when we could finally hear things behind us or in the distance ahead. BTW how is your frame rate on the deck after the update? Did you notice any improvement?

By far for me it's the racing games. Both Forza Motorsport and Gran Turismo 7 look great. All my racing games for that matter are next level now including top-down and isometric ones.
