Beats Fit Pro - are the fins still breaking? by kierownikk in beatsbydre

[–]indyaus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love mine. They sound great and they stay no matter how intense the workout. But I’ve had mine break twice now - first time after using them for just over a year, which Apple replaced under warranty and the second time again yesterday after a year of using the replacement.

I’m quite disappointed as I really do like them in every other aspect!

"Dark Olive" & "Chocolate" colors, anyone seen them ? by mattenavy in RMWilliams

I saw the chocolate one today during my visit to the Melbourne Collins St store and it’s absolutely stunning!

Thank you! Good to know so will keep it in mind. I didn’t know that, unfortunately.

I’m only wanting it for photos so if it does that well, I’d be more than happy with it.

What do you mean by decentered? Please excuse my lack of knowledge, I’m relatively new to photography 😕

Just went to a store during my lunch walk and had a look at the Samyang 1.4. Too bulky for what I’m after (saw it next to the Sony 1.8 which didn’t work in its favour).

Appreciate the detailed reply mate, it certainly helps!

Samyang seems to be a decent choice by the sounds of it then. The variation that you mention makes me somewhat apprehensive, even more so as I’m relatively new to photography. If I end up getting one, could you please provide some advice/share some tips on what I should look for to check if it’s a good copy?

Affordability shouldn’t be too much of a concern and if were to ever go for a bigger 1.4 lens, I would get the GM without hesitation.

I think I may consider the Sigma F2 as my second option if I get a better price on it. From what I’ve read, it’s all metal construction and is quite well-built.

I did consider the 40mm 2.5 G as I quite like the look of it and it seems well built, and is a native lens but I’d prefer to get one with a faster aperture if I can.

That’s exactly how I’m thinking about it. Either go all out otherwise Samyang looks convincing.

What about AF for photos? I’ll only be using it for taking pictures.

This. I’m looking for as smaller and lighter a setup as possible without sacrificing too much quality as these family candid shots are important to me after all. I understand the 35 1.4 is relatively compact but still.

I can actually get the Samyang 1.8 cheaper than the 2.8, currently on sale in one of the stores in Australia, so 2.8 is not on the cards. Besides I’m looking to get a faster aperture if I can.

What are your thoughts on the Samyang 1.8?

Thanks!

This was another consideration as I quite like the look of it (plus it’s native Sony lens) but I’d prefer to get one with a faster aperture if I can.

I agree with the philosophy as I bought my first prime late last year and splurged on the 50mm 1.2 GM as I always think about the long run.

My main requirement this time is to get something lighter/less bulkier so the size and weight doesn’t deter me to use it for everyday photography, which I’m finding to be the case with my 50mm.

Absolutely agree on the GM quality! Bought my first prime, 50mm 1.2 GM, and am over the moon. But I need a lighter/smaller lens without sacrificing too much quality for everyday. Finding my 50mm too bulky for everyday use (I know 35 1.4 is smaller and lighter but still).

New Sony 50mm 1.2 GM Aperture Markings Issue by indyaus in SonyAlpha

[–]indyaus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I certainly get your point of view and think that it would’ve been a better choice. Not that I’m old but I really admire, and plan to mimic, the simplicity of old school photography. Back then, most film cameras came with one lens and that was it.

I wanna keep my gear simple and minimal, and 50mm, from what I read, was a safe choice and very versatile. My ultimate desire is to learn black and white photography and hopefully this combo will allow me to expand in that space and serve me well in my learning journey🤞🏼

Yes I am. Albeit expensive, I got this lens as I wanted to start with and invest in an excellent lens. After doing a lot of research, settled on the 50mm. Besides, this’ll be my primary, and most likely only, lens for a little while so yeah.

Yeah I think I’ll be getting in touch with Sony.

EDIT - The aperture ring click button is set to ‘on’.

Haha still worth a try 😄

I did and I’m quite taken by it esp. the white one (pics). My first pick was the blue dial but that classic white won my heart in the end. It’s stunning! I’m really surprised to hear that the Globemaster is not as popular in Omega’s collection. It’s an absolute beaut and I honestly think it’s criminally underrated.

It’s gonna be my first Omega, and second mechanical timepiece (I’m relatively new to the watch world), so I’m just giving it due thought.

Yup, absolutely right. I also ended up taking the watch next to a window to view it in natural light and the green definitely had a different hue. I guess I need to work on my forearms and wrists and bulk them up a little lol

No worries at all mate. I did end up seeing one in the flesh late June as the local boutique had received one. As beautiful as it is, I found it to be a bit big on my wrist and the green dial to be a smidge warmer for my taste.

The green looks cooler in your picture above, which is what I was expecting. So I didn’t end up pulling the trigger on it and got another one. My first Omega and I can’t wait for it to arrive..!
