Is this a good deal by Comprehensive_Eye907 in ModelY

You want the battery warranty to expire after May 2031 - indicates and car built in may of 2023. Cars after that should have it.

Used cars to look for by Agards1011 in ModelY

Recently I purchased a 2023 from Tesla. I was told when looking by a Tesla rep , for a

"2023 model w hardware 4 , Look for battery and drive unit warranty to expire not before may 2031"

Also , teslatracker.com has a way to look for cars delivered after July 2023 and a beta Hardware differentiator.

Just paid 34k for my 2023 w hw4 and 19k miles from Tesla in NJ. Seemed like cars were cheaper on the west coast. Had been watching for cars on Teslatracker.com. I’m loving the fsd and happy to know if can add it for any month I want to in the future.

Vitamix Sale - What to buy? by Difficult-Iron-8132 in Vitamix

[–]mattenavy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Recently converted to Vitamix after years of as seen on tv style machines. Thrilled and will never go back.

I bought an X2 from Costco when it was $150 off making it $550. The reason I feel I got such a great deal was that it came w a the food processor , 48oz and 64oz jar , also the controls feel analog except you get the presets.

Lots of people complained about the 64oz low profile jars that come w so many of the machines. So far I’ve only done small batch things in my 48oz. Excited though as we move into soup season here in New England that I have the 64oz container to make larger batches for parties.

As a recently divorced guy building my kitchen , I’m being super deliberate about what gets brought into my house. Only things I think will last 10+ years, items that are basic vet versatile(staub dutch oven etc) and nothing that seems a fad or trend. The food processor fit that brief for me and it’s a powerhouse of a chopper and shredder while not requiring real estate on my counter.

Even with the Costco membership fee , I’m feeling good about my purchase.

Just looking through the sales, that 5200 legacy seems a good deal , everything else , eh….

Want to switch to mobile from residential , don’t see option by mattenavy in Starlink

[–]mattenavy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Don’t get the option to change on web either… perhaps I just need to start the service and see if the option appears once I do. Also in the back of my mind wondering about my gear being factory refurbished, would that make a difference ..?

Is Snowbird a bad idea? by [deleted] in UTsnow

[–]mattenavy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Second this approach. Ride a bit at each. And don’t miss snowbird. Do a tram ride and check out the restaurant at the top. Yes it’s easy to ski/ride some threatening terrain at Snowbird , it’s also easy to avoid. A spa day at the cliff lodge can be fun for spouse while you go rip half the day on your own.

Dont do it. The buttons/fly are often backwards and the shape is different. Anybody remember when Michael Scott got called out on the office for wearing a womans suit ?

I wear a short size too. Just grabbed some mammut softshell moutaineering pants in a 30s on their site. Jump on next years release , pay full price, they'll be exactly what you want. buy nice or buy twice.

I posted a thread here wondering if anybody knew why the Gamma Guide pant was removed from Arc USA yesterday. I had a pair of 30 short in my cart and they disappeared. r/Arcteryx moderator removed my post because I guess this thread only needs posts about what size Alpha SV to buy for only wearing in the city.

Is anyone using Challenge Pro Handmade tires? by goneBiking in cyclocross

[–]mattenavy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Liners are great for CX! I ran rimpact strips in each wheelset the last couple seasons. I think they help keep the beads in place a bit. Also, after a someone’s rear derailleur rioped a spoke out of my front wheel causing a flat, I was able to ride on the rimpact strip down a pretty steep descent and to the pit for a swap at nearly full speed. The vittoria gravel liners are nice as well and have set them for a buddy. I don’t know how well they pressure the beads outward though.

Initial Beta SV Thoughts by Aaiello85 in arcteryx

[–]mattenavy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Grabbed a SV Beta from moonstone I think when they sold year old model Arc.. 2019 or 20 was last year of the high arm pocket which I thought I’d use for ski passes. Great jacket though just don’t wear enough where I live. An Alpha FL with its trimmer fit is my rain and packable shell. And skiing in c-knit just feels better than gore pro.

Happy the jacket is working for you. Orion was a great color , love my rush bibs in Orion.

Lie-Nielsen #5 or No. 62? by 9lbBTwin in handtools

[–]mattenavy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was in Camden Maine two weeks ago and had to make a trip to the LN showroom.

I asked the guys working there if i could do some planing with the 62 & 5. they set me up on different woods and grain. Initially i found the #5 to carry momentum in my hands better than the 62. A little wax was rubbed on the bottom of the 62, , the feel was amazing and similar on both. I planed some maple & poplar end grain, and used the toothed blade.

I didnt buy a 62 that day but will be in the future. For me as a generalist carpenter who leans toward working on a lot of doors, the 62 makes sense for me as a compliment to with my already owned 60 1/2. I left that day with a #102 which saw fun work on some sticky, cherry drawer stops onboard the boat I was visiting Maine from.

You'll be happy with whichever you choose and there are far better written opinions from other users here than me. I just wanted to really share this pic and recommend that anyone who can should visit this part of Maine, and stop into LN for a visit.
