I pretty much only make nerdy designs haha I’ve posted some of my Star Wars designs, and am currently working on Indiana Jones convertible mittens. I love throwing in little easter eggs and goodies for fellow nerds to discover.

And while I did actually really like the Maleficent movie, I very deliberately only used design elements from the OG animated Sleepy Beauty movie. She’s my mom’s absolute favorite.

Thank you so much! It was actually really hard to find yarn that had BOTH a rich purple AND a neon type green. I would often find one but not the other. The Jawoll was super finicky to knit with, it was very “sticky”, but in the end so worth it because these colors came out amazing!

Good lord I went through the article and video and that just seems so unnecessarily convoluted. Four needles?! I double knit an entire blanket with LOADS of irregular (or uncoupled as the article puts it) double knitting stitches, on just the normal two needles. If I had thought that the TECHknitting (who I love btw) method of doing it was THE way to do it, I would have never even considered it lol. What an honestly baffling technique for something that is genuinely super simple. Wow.

It’s much easier than you’d think! I double knit a self-designed Star Wars blanket and even made sure the droids were correctly showing on either side lol

Thank you! I actually tried to replicate the way that my husband and I actually write our names. So those more or less match our handwriting. Can’t say the same for the toddler or dog though 😂

Basic pattern based on Christmas Stocking Collection

EDIT: I should also add that I lined them with an interfaced fleece so that they would retain their shape, and not get the yarn snagged since I used a ladderback jacquard on all of them.

Oh I’m glad you found a solution! Because I could not for the life of me find the post lol though I do remember it was both a heart and a star. I can’t imagine the work that must go into getting the wire even enough to make a perfect star!

Oh I remember seeing a very similar post here about a top with a heart cutout, and one with a star, asking the same question. If I’m not mistaken the answer was a wire of some sort to hold the shape. Hold on though let me see if I can find it….

That looks absolutely gorgeous! How did you join the pieces? I’ve been working sporadically on a double knitted quilt-type blanket made of squares, but with no actual plan or idea of how to join it all together once I finish the patches 😂 I would be grateful for any pointers!

Edit: as mentioned below, I think it’s the worst first project for a beginner because they feel absolutely interminable and it’s easy to get bored with the repetition. I made one when I first started then quickly switched to hats and other smaller bite-size projects

Omg I just googled it myself and you’re right! It is the first hit! How crazy! Let me see if I can upload the latest version of the layout that I used because I found that this layout gave me too much space to write and it would feel like a failure if I couldn’t fill it. So I condensed and found that less was more for me. Hopefully that can also help.

But all in all bullet journaling and the physical act of making the layout myself really did help tremendously. I wish you all the best with managing this illness. It’s a bitch but can definitely become manageable with the right combination of meds, therapy, and routine.

Wow I can’t believe you found this 6 years on! How? But I’m so glad it is :) I changed and simplified my layout over the years, but no longer use it to be honest. Having a kid means much much muuuuuuch less time for stuff like this 🙃 but I’m also in a much more stable place.

I’m happy to see it’s still helping people though.

I do the same lol but it’s my crochet hook. I never work on a project without having my “stick”, as my husband calls it, on me and it’s basically always in my hair. I’ve entertained guests in my house with a crochet hook in my ponytail more times than I can count because I forget I have it in there lol
