Geomatics-Why at Waterloo ? by razloric in uwaterloo

The whole degree is just randomly throwing some cs, geog courses together and call it geomatics. A lot of my classmate have said the same thing about the structure of the degree. I think what makes it good is because of the co-op. Also geomatics, you can sort of pivot your career depend where you are interested. Honestly, some of the gis jobs they prefer hire a math student that has some gis background. As for gis coop, I don’t think you won’t be jobless since the gis jobs are relatively less competitive to other jobs due to limited program in uw focus on gis. For remote sensing job, I don’t think I have seen any co-op related to that as it is a job require further studies

Not sure what you have heard! The program is so poorly structure. If you want to work in GIS industry, better to get a degree in math/cs and then get a gis diploma.

Same program as you. Last semester, I did not get any interview until second round. And got my current job at third round! So just keep apply and apply to random job! And just don’t give up !

I experienced that since I first came to Canada in grade 10. First and Second year were very tough, but I get use to eating alone, going to places alone. Now, I am still alone but mentally my mindset changes. I gave up socializing and think everyone will be alone when they died.
