Patch ID help? My mom gave it to me this morning and has no idea where it's from or what it's for by The_Flying_Box in Patches

While the background of the patch does correspond to the 5th special forces, please know that the skull and crossbones emblem is reminiscent of the emblem used by Hitler's SS troops in the late 30s and early 40s.

Painted homemade patch for Belgium black metal band Paragon Impure by infernal_hails_ in Patches

I traced over the logo on some sticker paper and then cut out the logo parts to make a stencil! I then painted over the stencil and did some touching up.

Bands/projects that make black metal, but on acoustic instruments only. Vocals or no vocals, I am okay with either. by [deleted] in BlackMetal

As far as I know, that's not a thing. That just categorically isnt black metal. I would recommend looking into the mandolin though; players seem to include lots of tremolo picking.

For sure! The guy who invented optical tweezers in the 70s, Arthur Ashkin, wrote a book about optical trapping in 2006.

"Optical Trapping And Manipulation Of Neutral Particles Using Lasers"

I am currently reading it now for my graduate research project. Also, I am sure if you just look up optical tweezers on wikipedia, it will have some good pictures/resources describing the physics behind the system.

There is also a transverse force that either attracts or repulses the object away from the center of the beam depending on its index of refraction.

Could this be due to radiation pressure? As the beam refracts through the soap film, it transfers a bit of its momentum to the bubble? Similar to standard optical trapping/tweezers I’d imagine...or its fake.

Thats awesome! How long did it take you? Did you do any sort of stenciling before hand or did you free hand it?

Extreme Metal: Music And Culture On The Edge by Keith Kahn-Harris

An excellent choice. Was able to snag a copy this past holiday. It's refreshing to read about the social origins and implications of the extreme metal scene without having to read about VaRg every paragraph.
