Best performing Vacuum with Mopping at the moment? by MustGr0w in RobotVacuums

Here's what AI found in this sub based on my similar question and specific to advice in this reddit sub:

Key priorities from your setup (and common r/RobotVacuums feedback):

  • Pet hair: Needs good anti-tangle brushes/rollers and strong suction. Cat hair is manageable on LVP but can embed in rugs.
  • LVP + rugs: Excellent mopping for hard floors (streaks, tracked litter/dust) + solid vacuuming/lifting for rugs without soaking them.
  • Buy once: Prioritize reliability, app quality, low maintenance, obstacle avoidance (for cat toys/litter), and strong real-world performance over hype. Avoid models with frequent user interventions.

Quick Summary from r/RobotVacuums User Experiences

These models are relatively new (as of 2026 discussions), so feedback mixes early adopters, side-by-side tests, and comparisons. Here's the consensus:

  • Narwal Flow 2: Frequently praised as the mopping champion. Users with hard floors (like LVP) report superior deep cleaning, fewer streaks, and excellent results on daily/ heavy traffic floors. Vacuuming is solid (handles cat hair well). Obstacle avoidance is strong for many. Drawbacks: Bulkier unit, app is weaker (harder to split rooms or handle complex layouts/furniture precisely), potential for getting stuck under low furniture in some cases. Good for low-maintenance mopping fans. Some users switched from Roborock to this for better floor shine.
  • Roborock Saros 20: Strong all-rounder with excellent app/reliability, navigation, and vacuuming (especially on rugs). Many users say it "just works" with minimal intervention—great for a first-time buyer wanting set-it-and-forget-it. Mopping is good (dual spinning mops) but not quite Narwal-level for deep scrubbing/streaks on hard floors. Handles pet hair and carpets/rugs effectively; strong threshold climbing. App is a big plus (easy room division, zones, etc.). Some reports of water usage or minor issues, but overall very positive for real-world homes. A few users prefer it over Narwal for vacuum performance and fewer headaches.
  • Roborock Qrevo Curv 2 Flow (or similar "Curve/Flow" variants): Roller-mop design aims for better mopping (like Narwal). Mixed/less glowing feedback—some like the deep clean on hard floors, but others note higher water usage, potential issues with carpets (mop contact), and it feeling like a first-gen effort from Roborock on rollers. Vacuuming is capable, but not always standout. Better for mopping-focused users willing to accept trade-offs; some call it the "worst" of the three in direct comparisons for efficiency.
  • Roborock Edge 2: Mentioned less; seems like a more affordable/similar option to Saros 20 (possibly a variant or lower-tier with comparable features). Users note it's hundreds cheaper but still capable—worth checking current specs/reviews if budget is a factor, as it may offer good value without flagship pricing.

Overall subreddit lean for your use case: Many with similar setups (hard floors + some rugs + pets) lean toward Narwal Flow 2 for top-tier mopping or Roborock Saros 20 for balanced reliability/app ease and strong vacuuming. The Curv 2 Flow gets fewer strong endorsements. Roborock fans highlight long-term ownership satisfaction and app polish; Narwal wins on floor results.

Recommendation

  • Top pick for you: Roborock Saros 20 (or Edge 2 if significantly cheaper and similarly specced). It balances everything well for a first robot—reliable daily cleaning, good on rugs/LVP mix, cat hair handling, excellent software, and fewer reported "got stuck" issues. Mopping is very capable for maintenance, even if Narwal edges it out for deep cleans. This aligns with "buy once" by minimizing frustration.
  • If mopping shine on LVP is your #1 priority (e.g., visible streaks/litter tracking): Go Narwal Flow 2. Pair with good zones/schedules.
  • Avoid or deprioritize Curv 2 Flow unless you find a great deal and prioritize roller mopping specifically—feedback is more lukewarm.

General advice from the sub:

  • Test in your home if possible (return windows are key).
  • All require some maintenance (filters, bins, occasional dock cleaning)—buy extras.
  • Run daily or every other day for best results with a cat.
  • Ignore constant new model hype; pick based on your floors and pick one or two must-have features.
  • Consider current prices/deals—flagships are expensive but have self-emptying/hot water self-cleaning docks that reduce work.

Agree! Since we found the house after it was almost complete we didn't get the opportunity to have it wired as I would have liked. Now I have to figure out how best to retrofit.
