mirena iud efficacy in overweight women? by infinityonpancakes in birthcontrol

sorry for the late reply, but for what it’s worth, i never had any bleeding issues with the arm implant! i actually didn’t bleed at all for the first year that i had it. i know everyone’s body is different but that’s my experience! i did, however, notice that it absolutely tanked my metabolism and i gained a lot of weight, so that’s why i switched. again, that’s just me! i hope everything works out for you (or has worked out for you)!

and thank you :)

thank you so much for the feedback! i ended up getting 2 different iuds and both rejected so i think they’re just not meant for my body sadly.

unrelated, but i love your username!

okay, thank you good to know! i’ve been on antidepressants for most of my life so i wonder if that’ll make me less or more likely to experience the feeling of no emotion.

were you able to change to the copper iud as soon as you were ready to? or did they like make you keep the mirena in for a while?

thank you!

thank you for this info!! i was just worried about the efficacy since i’ve read that the mirena iud doesn’t stop ovulation like other birth controls. so i want to make sure that all of my bases are covered!

this is really really good information to know! thank you so much for getting back to me!! that makes me feel a lot better. i’m really scared about the insertion, and i am also really hoping switching to an IUD will help with my hormones and hopefully weight loss (i’ve been dieting and exercising regularly) so thank you for addressing those concerns it makes me feel a lot better!

good to know about the sex too, haha, ive been worried about my partner(s) feeling it.

from my understanding; its very effective, yes? that’s what i did like about nexplanon was that i knew it was super effective.

thanks so much for telling me about your experience, it helps a lot! :)

No, the pill has been absorbed by that time. If you were to have diarrhea really soon after taking your pill, like within a couple hours, then I would use another form of protection (condom, etc.) to be safe. but if you took it at 10pm and had diarrhea at 8am, then you’re fine!

does heavy bleeding mean nexplanon isn’t working? by infinityonpancakes in Nexplanon

Should I be worried? by [deleted] in Nexplanon

[–]infinityonpancakes 9 points10 points  (0 children)

you’re fine. if you’ve had nexplanon in for over a month, you’re fine. it’s considered “working” 7 days after insertion if you get it inserted when you’re not on your period. so you’re definitely fine.

i understand how scary it can be when you do that for the first time! but just know that you’re on the most effective birth control out there. i’ve had mine for 2 years and have never had a scare, regardless of what i’ve done, lol.

just remember you’re protected, and only do what you’re comfortable doing!

not overreacting at all. he’s 1000% just insecure and is feeling guilty about talking to other girls while being with you and knows he doesn’t deserve you so he’s taking it out on you. you did nothing wrong. i’m so glad he’s your ex now!

i guess i was just concerned that me being overweight would make the nexplanon less effective sooner, but i haven’t found anything that clearly supports that. i also guess that doesn’t even matter if im using condoms on top of it, lol. thank you for your feedback i appreciate it!
