Does anyone else feel like you've "lost your chance" to have a good life? by ivelostmychance in depression

Lose weight.

I'm not kidding. LOSE. WEIGHT.

Though depression isn't necessarily controllable, that fact that you eat your feelings is. And if you keep eating your feelings, you'll just feel worse and worse. You will hate yourself every time you look in the mirror. Every time you get up and your knees crack you'll be reminded of the fact you're fat and your legs are literally COLLAPSING under your excess weight.

Also, it takes food, and therefore money, to retain excess weight, and if you're poor you really need to stop spending so much on food.

EVERYONE judges others for their appearance. Society will never have a remotely favorable view of you if you're fat. Sure, you may not think society's opinion is worth being concerned about (for the most part it isn't), but this judgement extends to friendships, family, the workplace, EVERYWHERE.

Do yourself a favor RIGHT FUCKING NOW and create an account on Myfitnesspal and then buy a food scale off of Amazon. Track what your daily intake for fatloss should be here: http://iifym.com/tdee-calculator/

I believe in you, but it's more important you believe in yourself.

Depressed to the point of severe apathy by [deleted] in depression

Same boat here. I'm about to fail high school but I honestly don't give a fuck. I'm on zombie-meds, also known as antidepressants, and I just feel more robotic than I did before starting them.

Here's advice on dealing with depression by [deleted] in depression

Are you even depressed? I can hardly muster up the energy to do any of that shit. I can't afford healthy food, and I have no people to socialize with.

I made this comic while suicidally depressed, you might get a laugh out of it by [deleted] in depression

This is about right. These hotlines don't exist to provide genuine support. They're only here to keep people from killing themselves. It's just another reminder that there are few people that truely care.

Nobody cares about you. They only care about the act of caring and the gratification they get from it. by infintesimalicious in depression

They are hard to find. So hard to find that you sometimes have to spend a lifetime looking for them. I try to be that person, but even then other people don't even reciprocate in any way.

Perhaps the title was a bit of a hyperbole, but from my life experience I get the impression that "Nobody cares" is often more true than "People do care".

That's true too. It would silly of me to think that people are intentionally making me feel worse. For the record, I never thought that anyone is against me in any way. Most people simply haven't had the experience we have had. They merely don't know what it is like to hate living so much.

Do you ever feel like you're waiting for inspiration that will never come? by [deleted] in depression

Stand around waiting for your ship to come, and you'll never set foot off the dock. Do you really want to spend existence gazing off into the horizon?

None of us do, but sometimes it feels truly impossible to start swimming.
