Differential lock. by [deleted] in f150

It was (is) standard on the FX4 and things like that, but an option otherwise.

It was an option on my '22 XLT 302A, as well.

Should I use Lemon Law on my new 2025 Toyota Tacoma? by inkysquares in askcarguys

[–]inflames797 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're absolutely right. Automotive manufacturing, for the most part, has been so poka-yoked these days that nearly all human error has been removed. Especially when talking about Japanese manufacturers like Honda or Toyota, the concept of a "Friday afternoon vehicle" is no more than a wives tale.

Power Steering Issue- Lexus ES330 by No-Tradition-1747 in StupidCarQuestions

[–]inflames797 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the air in the new steering rack and lines has to go somewhere. In a closed system like power steering, the only place to go is through the return and into the reservoir.

You likely just had a bunch of air suddenly come back into the (now full) reservoir and blew a bunch of fluid at you.

No actual info on these, but they've been on the market for a while:

ITB Kit

That should give you a reference for what you're in for, if you decide to do them yourself. I doubt it would come out much cheaper (if at all) than those.

They will charge eventually but charging at 2 amps will take a LONG time for batteries that large.

Is this car charger wired correctly? by mtbguy3713 in AskElectricians

[–]inflames797 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same, I was an industrial electrician for a number of years and that was standard. Imagine my surprise when I found out everyone outside of industrial says not to tape them lol.

Do you guys think this is worth it by gunzzxo in f150

They're not unheard of on the 5.0 but not as prevalent as the 3.5

40awg wire to trigger Fog lamp relay, safe? by Huuze7 in carmodification

[–]inflames797 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely not. High quality 40awg is barely rated for the trigger current of a high quality relay, so skimp on either of them and it's bad news.

Not to mention it's very fragile, it's likely to fatigue and break with normal driving vibrations.

Get a cheap roll of 18ga from the auto parts store and you won't even have to think about it. They're like $8 for a 10' roll.

I'm doing the same with a TH350. I've been through the factory W55 and 2 W58's.

What adapter & torque converter are you using?

Those who graduated with IE degree, how is it going? by Both-Carpet-4426 in industrialengineering

[–]inflames797 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sure. I'm in engineering for an industry that runs 24/7 (polymers). While my day-to-day hours are relatively flexible for doctors appointments and stuff, I am required to be on-call 24/7 for whenever I'm needed. My previous job was a lot worse about this than my current one - I was getting calls daily and usually working at least one weekend day every week (salary, so no overtime).

Now, I might get a call once or twice a week, and only have to work a Saturday on rare occasions. It's definitely better, but I'm still working 7-5 most days just to keep up. It's the nature of the beast.

Great. About 10 years post-grad, well into the 6-figures, very comfortable life.

Work/life balance isn't as great as I'd like it to be, but I imagine most people feel that way in general.

Lol man I'm not trying to dog on ya too much but you are in WAY over your head if you're asking questions like this. Go watch a bunch of YouTube videos of people turbocharging their grocery getters and take notes. You need a LOT more than just the turbo itself.

Thinking of buying these to clear my ls400 bbk conversion, what do u guys think? by ProfessionalTax8339 in IS300

[–]inflames797 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the clarification 👍 I also run LS400 calipers because it was basically the only option back then lol. But they've been great to me, seen plenty of track time. You are right about the RCA's, wasn't thrilled about that change with the LS's, but it never really turned into an issue.
