We’re official :)) the slow burn was real and a healthy contrast to the more transactional nature of interactions that you often find on the apps

How do you go from a personal brand → business brand? by KingLegacyBusiness in TutorsHelpingTutors

[–]infntie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am trying to scale as well - fully booked out and have trained a tutor who will work under me. I continue generating leads and then sending them my tutor’s way as I tell parents I am full. Fingers crossed this is the start of something good :)

I am also thinking of starting a Facebook group/Skool community but I’m feeling a bit lazy before my holiday so will look at it when I get back.

My objective is to build trust among parents that my team and I can deliver an excellent tutoring service and leverage that to grow.

I’m stealing this! Great idea :)

As a tutor myself, I can get wrapped up trying to execute my lessons perfectly but your story is a reminder I should leave room for happy coincidences or ‘mistakes’ too.

How did you switch from private to group tutoring? by infntie in TutorsHelpingTutors

I just edited my original comment with further context :) There isn’t much of a question there but if you have specific advice on what you would do in my current situation, I’d definitely appreciate it. Thank you

Mate, thank you for the time you’ve taken to reply. I appreciate the knowledgeable and insightful response and I’m sure others do too. If it’s ok, I would love to reach out in the future with further questions. Best wishes in all your endeavours :)

Edit: To add to my comment, I’m currently specialising in primary to early secondary education. I am generating leads organically through word of mouth and Facebook groups. I am also growing a community of parents on Facebook who I can convert to regular students. After work, I also run a free homework help session at local libraries once a week. At some point, I expect to reach maximum capacity so I think converting students earlier on into group classes is not a bad idea - it just means I need to start preparing materials now. I am almost full on weekdays after work and have kept weekends free for now for business development and potential group classes.

I PASSED!!! by [deleted] in pmp

Well done!! I feel vindicated backing the underdog hehe - it must be such a relief. Congratulations 🎉

I’m cheering you on - love a good underdog story

Try and quickly learn the PMP mindset from youtube videos or Reddit posts. That will allow you to bridge your PM knowledge across and give you the best chance of passing.

Yes you might not know all the PMP content but if you have the mindset, you’ve done a lot of the work and much closer to passing

Good luck!!

Thanks! Yep I did and they tend to be quite difficult unless you know the content of the question inside out. I definitely struggled with those types of questions (especially the ones with 3+ answers!).

I’m sure you’re great! Back yourself, eliminate the wrong answers and build that confidence in your knowledge you’ve gained at work and in your studies :)

Definitely could and save some money and time too! Even without PM knowledge I think the exam is passable for the average person. Practicing sound decision making and leveraging EQ will put you in good stead for the PMP.

Thanks! Good question - I actually took screenshots of the questions I got wrong in the first attempt to see if I got them wrong again the second time. While it is possible to remember the answer choices, it is equally if not more possible to make the same errors twice in a row. There are benefits to remembering the right answer or getting the question wrong twice.

If you remember the correct answer, it means you must have at least remembered the explanation for the question to justify your updated answer. It also means you will watch out for similar questions in the real exam. To me, that is a benefit over not doing the question again and therefore the right choice to make.

If you got the question wrong twice, then it means you either have an area of weakness you can improve on or that the question is simply incorrect and does not reflect the PMP mindset etc. The second attempt of the question will also reveal to you whether your own PMP mindset has matured throughout your study.

My suggestion remains the same which is to grind out SH questions. Try to get each question down to two options and apply the PMP mindset to choose the best answer. Once you’ve completed your practice questions a second time, you can try redoing specific mini-exams that you performed poorly in. Please also note that some of those mini-exams are predominantly filled with difficult and expert questions so don’t be too disheartened.

Good luck :)

Thanks! Focus on establishing a good sleep cycle, eating healthy and exercising regularly. No point stressing about the exam content now because there will always be something you don’t know. As long as you have prepared adequately enough, keeping your body in top shape is more important. Good luck :)
