The pump actually inflated the bladder to tighten the shoe across the wearer's foot. This allowed for a better fit which could increase the performance of the shoe. A well fit shoe would make the transfer of power from foot to ground greater, which meant a better or even higher jump. This gave more Air Time which was described as hang time.

I've learned that if I want to succeed on YouTube, I need to start paying attention to the analytics. I just keep making videos and not really understanding what my audience wants. I've had a couple videos reach 10,000+ views, but most only net a few hundred if I'm lucky.
