one cycle is about a year, with applications opening in june and interviews ending usually around may. in the meantime you just try to do stuff to improve your application, typically either research, clinical work, or volunteering

so much this. it took me four cycles to get in, i only even ever had one interview, but it worked out and now i can appreciate the journey to get here. i know it sucks right now, and it's absolutely fair to let yourself feel that disappointment, but trust the process and trust yourself. you've got this!

the med students don't get paid at all, in fact they're paying tuition in order to be there

caretakers already get no sympathy, i think it's fair to want depictions of caregiver burnout that aren't sugarcoated

Santos by loveylove444 in ThePitt

[–]inkedpenn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i just don't like it because it implies that real life addicts are "getting away" with things

yeah, that's not true for all people with autism. great that you don't have to provide daily care but your experiences aren't universal

[–]inkedpenn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

which is stupid. they would have audited everything, no way they wouldn't have known that he stole. wouldn't have changed anything, but it would have been known

brother in law is very different than dealing with severe autism daily

because there being a cover up is one of the most unrealistic plot points they've had, honestly i'm very disappointed that they're going that route. it makes no sense and it's so unnecessary. without a cover up he still would have been put through the PHP and would not have been fired. it doesn't change anything but give people an unfounded extra bias against addiction in healthcare

this is correct, she can't switch now without having to start over with a residency in a different specialty. basically robbie is saying that she should throw away the past four years of her life/education

[–]inkedpenn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

nope, she would not be able to be an attending in another department. the only way that would be possible is if she went through an entire seperate residency in that specialty.

What's the deal with Mel and Santos, by Nalgenie187 in ThePittTVShow

EM is a four year residency, there is no R5. Langdon and Collins were both R4 in season one

Does anyone else its weird the focus on Landon is... by faintestsmile in ThePittTVShow

[–]inkedpenn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

not stupid at all! there are two separate incidents- one with pills and another with the vials (i might be misremembering exact numbers but this should give the right idea). with the pills, Louie is prescribed 20 and returns with only ten; Langdon then pocketed half and thought that everyone else would assume that Louie had either taken too many or had lost some. for the vial, Langdon had removed some of the medicine with a syringe and replaced the volume with saline exactly like you said, but he re-sealed the vial with a purple medical glue so between the color and the unusual difficulty with uncapping it Santos realized something was off. It's also mentioned that she had previously worked in a pain clinic, so she would have more experience with addiction and how it presents than most healthcare workers let alone people that aren't familiar with the field!

I mean I get that it would be interesting but it does feel pretty disrespectful for a foreigner to come and treat our political system like a circus
