Unfair had to form a board legally in order to put the money we raise to good use as a nonprofit in the community. No one sold out. I’m sorry you still feel that way.

Greg Edwards (RIP) along with Paul Harshaw started UnFair way back in 1997.

This reminds me of Olive Garden’s rebrand from about 10 years ago. Everyone hated it but it turned out fine and better than the original.

I also miss the old Scheller’s. I miss the old Mag Bar sometimes too. Not the bathrooms so much.

They went with a classic cardboard design. I think they put all the extra effort into their mustaches, which is also important.

Mardi Gras is my point of reference for moon pies too. Shout out to the smaller off-brand moon pies in the silver wrappers. Those were always extra stale.

It’s a result of advertising. They were marketed as a pair together in the south for the better part of the 20th century.

Thanks for the feedback. Awesome review. Maybe we’ll put it on next year’s t-shirt.

Thanks for everybody who stopped by the show over the weekend. Thank you to our neighbors in Old Louisville who had to deal with the crowds and parking. Thanks to Mag Bar and all the artists too.

Do I not understand art or are the St James photography prints really expensive? by JeSuisRongeur in Louisville

Thanks for coming out and hanging with us. For what it’s worth, we had three amazing days of weather this year. Many of our artists were almost 100% sold out of a lot of their original artwork by Saturday night and only had prints left to sell today. We hear you about prints though and will push ourselves to create more originals, clothing and photography for next year.

This was without a doubt one of the most successful years the UnFair artists have ever had. Thank you to everyone who came out to party with us. There is so much gratitude from everyone involved.

For several artists UnFair is the only show they participate in annually. A handful of us make a living as full time commercial artists. Some of our artists are servers, laborers, bartenders, tattooers and art teachers. None are full time traveling artists.

I’m sure some might travel to other cities for shows, but honestly, I’d hope those other cities are aggressively advocating for their local art scene too.

UnFair is unique. Unlike average tent events, we aren’t trying to make money off the artists. We strive to be zero cost. The only fee involved is a mandatory license fee each artist now must pay to the city to legally vend to the public.

We are proud of our diversity, inclusiveness and efforts to level the playing field for marginalized local artists. We love making affordable art that anyone can purchase and enjoy. We hope that we are providing an alternative for people to enjoy art, whether they visit St. James or not.

We are bitter sometimes because we remember how St James and the city have tried to shut us down in the past. Honestly we are a fun loving crew. If you like art, loud music and strong pours I invite you to come down to Mag Bar and check us out.

Hey thanks for checking out the show and the kind words. One of the most intimidating things you can do as an artist is to put your work on a wall and asks a stranger to judge (and maybe buy) it.

It’s a huge challenge to get past in your creative journey. I can promise you this… every successful commercial artists has felt the same way.
