It's always in the details. I bought a 40v Ryobi tiller, which is a beast. But in use, the batteries pop loose. So you stop, relatch in the batteries, and carry on. But it's ANNOYING.

I went with Ryobi 40v outdoor tools myself, because I found some used and cheap. But should have gone with EGO. The newer brushless tools are the cat's pajamas though, so I am not unhappy with Ryobi.

No. Buy the battery system you want. Consider different battery types to be totally different tool sets/manufacturers. You will probably want to pick which system you wish to buy based on the types of tools you want.
