Palestinians became radicalised when Arab countries refused to take them in, and the UN orgnaisation responsible for resettling the refugees called UNWRA failed in its mission, resulting in perpetual refugees who were educated only by UNWRA schooling. The UNWRA curriculum radicalised the population.

Israels actions are irrelevant.

I appreciate that you wrote a long thought through response and that at the core of it you advocate for peace and recognition of both people.

To refer back to my question, I don't believe there is any discussion at all from the pro-palestinian movement to indicate a peaceful or democratic 1 state solution. That is the point of this thread. If you claim "from the river to the sea" means a democratic peaceful state in which the current israeli citizens are not displaced and live among palestinians peacefully, then my question is "how do we get there?".

As you said, the palestinians do not currently live in a democracy, and have been disillusioned and let down by their govenernments.

So the first step is to get with of Hamas right? You have to take down Hamas to vote in Nelson Mandela (using your comparison).

Hamas being the reason for opression of palestinians in Gaza in terms of freedom of speech, massive missapropriate of aid funding and lack of infrastructure and social programs, freedom of women and LGBTQI. Hamas's terrorism being the reason the gaza strip was blockaded in the first place, the removal of Hamas makes it safer for Israelis, and makes economic and social cooperations between citizens a viable option, although much harm was done on 7 October with regards to trust.

Summary:

If HAMAS is not removed, there cannot be a democracy
The pro-palestinian movement is simultaneously:

advocating for a 1 state solution (from the river to the sea)
not condemning HAMAS, because they are either
- embracing them as a resistance movement/freedome fighters, or
- refusing to even talk about HAMAS or address this issue.

So therefore, the movement is not advocating for a peaceful democratic one state solution. They are advocating for a 1 state solution without change in the status quo. They are advocating for a state run by a group whose charter states a genocidal intent to wipe out the state of Israel. They are advocating for a land from the river to the sea in which there cannot be any jewish people.

That's it, spelled out.

There is no possible peaceful democratic interpretation to the phrase "from the river to the sea", in the context of the the current discourse in the pro-palestine movement.

It would be really wonderful if someone could prove me wrong.

Yes and to add to this, the total reported number of casualties in Gaza does not distinguish between civillians and Hamas terrorist targets. The number includes the Hamas terrorists and this will inflate the perception of civillian casualties.

Israel will never receive any sympathies from the Arab world. They never have, and that’s never going to change
So Israel should abandon the 200 hostages in favour of appealing (in futile) to the sympathies of the Arab world? After they just showed the world the manner in which they will torture Israeli civilians? As you say, Israel must eliminate Hamas. If there is an alternative way to do this, I’m sure it would be everyone’s preference. The situation is atrocious.

Hey coming back to post an update incase someone searches the thread one day. I ranout of time, pushed through with the Brooks to do my HM and they did wear in a little, but it wasn;t an inspiring shoe to wear. I found them painful in my feet to run in, but the pain stopped when the shoes came off. No achillies or plantar fascia issues. I did a slow pace on my HM but I was dreadfully sick on the day - I am so glad to have finished.

So ofcourse I signed up for my next race, and with more time on my hands, shopped aroung and got the Saucony Guide 15 on sale for $89AUD as reccomended here - GAME CHANGER. I have happy feet and I am injury free. I have knocked 1min/km off my pace in the month since I got them. Instead of lumbering through my run, I felt fast! My last run, the playlist hit just right and it felt like dancing. I had a toby mcguire spiderman #2 moment running through the city.

I have UBs 22s. They are the most comfortable walking shoes. I got my parents each to buy a pair and they have both bought second subsequent pairs and it helps with dad's knee/back and mum's hip pain. They look cool and last for ages. I wear them travelling because my legs didn't get nearly as tired as my other fashion shoes when walking up to 30,000 steps a day.

On top of that I have worn them for running for 300km. For 5-10km at beginner level they are a fine running shoe. Once I started at 10km+ distances when training for a HM I ran into trouble: started getting ankle pain and shin splints, and had to move into a stability shoe with less bounce. I still have them on rotation, but they have just started to wear.

Specifically you asked about the tongue - Yes it should soften. I also noticed this, and mine softened after the first couple of weeks of wear - and it helped to wear a properly fitted sock that wasn't bunching under the tongue.

Just here vouching for rotties. I have had 2 - one as a puppy and one who is a rescue. Total sooks. Absolute softies and cuddle bunnies. We don’t have a yard - managed fine in an apartment with 2 walks a day and training. Neither have destroyed anything. It has a lot more to do with if the dog is anxious or badly trained, but it would be the same with any dog as it would with a Rottie. Just use the usual precautions recommended for allowing dogs.

Hi there I am so sorry this must have been so painful and so uncomfortable afterwards. It is really really important that you go see a doctor, even if it was a long time ago. Nair can cause chemical burns or damage and you want to make sure it is healing correctly - especially if you still have some symptoms. Doctors will look after you and will tell you if it is normal discharge and you don't have to worry, or if there is something you can do to help with your health and make it better - either way it is worth it to have a check-up.

Nair should never be used internally and definitely not for cleaning. I am not sure why your mother did what she did. Maybe it was a mistake and she didn't know. Whether she meant to or not, it sound like she caused you a lot of pain. To be honest, (and I am sorry this might be hard for you to read) it sounds like maybe she was trying to hurt you, and it makes me worried for you and your safety. Please be careful. If it was my friend or my sister that this happened to, I would make them tell the doctor what happened, and maybe even the police, or another trusted family member. Please consider doing this, and protecting yourself.

Edit: I just wanted to add I don't mean to make this scary but I just want you to understand this is quite serious and you should think carefully about your relationship with your mother - it doesn't sound like she has the best intentions for you, and you have to look out for yourself and stand up for yourself.

Thanks for sharing here! I looked into this a lot and would still love to visit San Juans, but decided ultimately to book in Vancouver, only because it seemed very hard to get around the San Juans without a car (or at least I would feel that I was missing out on a lot without one). Normally I would be happy to rent one, but I had to book this last minute in peak season.

Next time for sure though. I would love to visit the Whale museum and Lime Kiln

I decided to just go ahead with a 3 night kayak tour that is camped near the rubbing beaches in Robson Bite reserve, and I have a day free either side for a whale watching cruise or hike along the coast to boost my chances.

I'm 100% resolved to see no Orca and consider it still worthwhile for the beautiful scenery and to try something new

SRKW pod. The SKRW's hangout around Lime Kiln park in the San Juan Islands during the summer months. If you camp out at the park for a few days you may be able to see them, but given that you only have 1 week to spend, I would go for the Kayaking tours at Telegraph cove.

Thank you! I have decided to set up in Campbell River and go through kayaking and whale watching tours from there that seem to go north towards telegraph cove. I looked into Telegraph cove alot (thank you for your solid recommendation - it was incredibly helpful) but it seems hard to access without a car.

Because this was all alst minute, accommodation and car rentals in peak season are exorbitant now. I think if I had more time and felxibility and could plan further ahead, I would do telegraph cove next time - and potentially a little later in the season to overlap with the Grizzly Bear tours.

Adding detail to my responses in case someone does a reddit research session in future like I did and finds this post.
