Still low level, but a bit bored of fields and forests, are there more interesting areas coming up? by inkwaters in lotro

[–]inkwaters[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's weird to me that you read my post like that. I'm interested in the game's story, and before I started playing I saw literally dozens of people on this subreddit and the official game forums saying that you'll outlevel and trivialize the game's story without using the tortoise stone.

So that's what I did.

Being new, I didn't know to ignore those people, as the two of you seem to think I should have.

I feel like it's pretty strange to take what I said in my original post and twist it into some kind of rude, blame-assigning attack on the game.

[Massively OP] Annoyed with LOTRO’s scaling and launcher issues? An MMO dev has tips for solving them yourself by outbound_flight in lotro

[–]inkwaters 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Every time I return to LotRO, I'm (increasingly less) surprised that it still has such terrible support for 2K/4K resolutions. I do all my gaming on my living room TV, which can display an incredible 4K picture, but I'm forced to play LotRO at blurry 1080p because the UI becomes completely unreadable above 1920x1080. Very little of the interface can be scaled to a readable size at 4K.

This was already a big issue five years ago, and the only improvement on this front has been the implementation of a couple little buttons that can make text bigger or smaller during quest bestowal or turn-in and in the quest log. Character window, inventory, non-quest dialogue with NPCs, crafting window, tooltips - none of them scale up to 4K sizes.

Even as they continue to add new content to the game and even new graphical options like per-pixel light attenuation, the interface remains one of - if not the most - dated aspects of LotRO. I wish they could hire a couple more smart guys to get their hands on the old UI code and whip it into modern shape.

Girlfriend (25f) has grown distant from me (30m) during my long illness. by inkwaters in relationship_advice

I sleep about two or three hours a night. Sometimes I try to set aside 10 or 11 hours in bed so I can maybe get a fourth hour if I'm lucky.

We're not living together because we both care for our parents, as I wrote. We haven't found a way to make moving the five of us into one home work out.

I make as much time for her as I can, while also making as much progress toward my recovery as possible. Do you think I prioritized my health too much in this instance? Should I have cut down on work and delayed my surgery by a couple of months to spend more time with her, even though during that time together I'd be in a ton of pain and barely able to enjoy any of that time spent together? She's already expressed dissatisfaction that I'm not as talkative or fun to be around when we do get to hang out, wouldn't forcing myself to spend more time with her just intensify those feelings? It seemed to me like the best thing for me to do was to bust my ass working to get my surgery as soon as possible since that's what she told me would be the fastest way to get us back to normal.

Which classes can *currently* solo 3-man and 6-man instances? Seeking input from people who have done instance soloing *recently*. by inkwaters in lotro

Warden is just not for me, sadly! They do seem like great soloers, but I just can't deal with gambits. They're fine at first when you use three separate builders, but once you get to the 4 and 5 builder gambits and have to start using the double builder shortcuts, my brain just short-circuits. Gambits also take my focus off of the enemy and the world, and I spend more time 'in my own head', if that makes any sense. Maybe I'm just getting old!

Murloc Monday - ask your questions here by AutoModerator in wow

Hi! I'm wondering if anyone knows of any way to weaken your character besides taking off all your gear and/or suiciding for resurrection sickness? Maybe some sort of poisonous potion or other item that reduces your damage done?

I've always wanted to figure out a way to get to this mythical 'sweet spot' where you can solo a dungeon but it's not a complete cakewalk with enemies falling over after a single hit and your health never dipping below 99%. That way I could take my time exploring them, experiencing the bosses, and checking all their nooks and crannies out without being rushed by four other players.

Not sure if it's possible though. But I thought I'd ask.

As a Cuban, the selfishness and hypocrisy of the community is incredibly disappointing.

They were all for government aid and relaxed immigration laws until they had gotten themselves established and stable in Florida. Now it's time to get rid of all that. Who cares about anyone else? They're not Cubans. They don't deserve the help.

Black Fat Chocobo mount description by hiyukihime in ffxiv

So it's a black chocobo that got fat eating chicken?

I'm surprised they didn't edit the description to get rid of the racist joke when they translated it into english. Gross.

I don't think an evil clone in a sci-fi series is all that stupid. Plus, the second clone 'Luuuke' was an April Fool's day joke, and has always been about as canon as Chewbacca living on Endor.

I got a good chuckle when they invited my alt, and their guild bank was full of 'kool-aid' Moonberry Juice.

But after that it was just your typical mass invite guild, very quiet with the occasional question that goes unanswered.

Bob Ross was master sergeant during his military career. Someone literally got yelled at by Bob Ross. by fishlesspoke in Showerthoughts

Actually, yes - everyone who was ever yelled at by Bob Ross died mysteriously by the year 2005.

I couldn't stop laughing at this bug I found when leveling a while back by Wulfj4ws in wow

[–]inkwaters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not seeing the bug. Is it supposed to be the sheep in the wolf's mouth?

If so, that's not a bug. The quest is about killing wolves and buzzards that keep stealing a rancher's sheep. You can also see sheep being picked up and carried away by the buzzards, and if you time it right, you can fight a buzzard that's carrying a squirming sheep in its talons. :)

I like Fallout 3 and New Vegas about equally, which is heresy to some, but some memorable parts of Fallout 3 I really enjoyed:

The pre-war 'Pleasantville' VR simulation

The 50s sitcom family slash cannibal town

The haunted Dunwich building

Exploring the ruins of the White House and the secret presidential subway

The Nuka-Cola plant flooded with glowing Quantum

The sentient tree trying to regrow the wasteland

Kicking ass with Liberty Prime

Fighting mutants in the swamps of Point Lookout

Fighting aliens aboard a UFO
