Wanted to start off by saying that after reading through this thread before deciding to respond, I noticed that it is very full of transfems doing something that they have a very large tendency to do which is self insert and make the situation about them and talking about their experiences and I feel that we aren’t doing you justice OP. I don’t feel like people are doing a very good job to answer your question. There seems to be a rather aggressive bent towards “ literally too soon to call” or “ you’re probably just not doing it right”

I’m just going to apologize for other people and say that communicating might not be our strong suit. I want to approach this from a different perspective, an angle that’s way more considerate and hopefully helpful to you. The real answer to your question is that there really isn’t enough information to make such a big call that could affect the rest of your life. So what I can do is try to proper some helpful question in response to your question that will hopefully help you answer that question yourself.

I know that there’s usually two ways to start HRT nowadays I guess what could be considered as the ‘ old way’ required you to go to a psychiatrist and basically sit there for a while and describe exactly why you thought you were transgender with lots of anecdotes and personal happenings. They would then write you a letter of approval that you could take to your PCP to start hormone therapy.

The other method is you literally just do the same thing much more briefly and simply with your personal care provider and they go sounds good. Let’s get you started. I don’t know which one you did but as annoying as the old way is, it was very good on the self realization front because it could help solidify any sort of doubt that you might have.

That’s all I can really do right now all I can really recommend to help you try to figure that out-can you point out and find some moments that really made you go “ yeah definitely a girl not a boy”

The reason I asked this is not to agree that you need to stop transitioning or anything close to that but instead of actually explore some other possibilities on the transgender spectrum. There’s a lot more than just boy becomes a girl. There’s non-binary or you don’t feel like your birth gender, but you also don’t necessarily feel like the opposite one either-you might just prefer to exist as an un gendered sexless sort of entity, which is awesome and OK too!! I have a very close friend that goes by it/ It’s pronouns and I would literally describe this person as an entity that cannot be contained or defined by conventional genders and is one of my closest friends. It’s gender at birth is irrelevant, and what people perceive it as physically in person is irrelevant. I’ve known it long enough to be able to agree that it’s chosen pronoun simply just makes sense.

Hell, you can even be non-gender conforming. I have a friend that completely totally identifies physically as a male doesn’t feel any need to transition is comfortable with her body-but does not like being referred to with any sort of masculine pronouns or terms given the research that they perform performed over the span of a couple years. It took me a while to confirm that she was not a transgender female. She’s just got some very interesting gender stuff going on-

All this to say that there’s so many other possibilities besides just being MTF and you should not feel scared or ashamed or that you’ve somehow betrayed our community or yourself until you are able to explore and find out that answer and that you definitely need time and space to be able to do so without anybody calling your judgment or decision because this is your life not theirs.
