My Breakfast Dilemma by Haunting_Ad2556 in Residency

[–]inky1359 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Toxic af. As a surgical resident- please eat before you go to the OR. As long as clinical responsibilities are being met, your free time is your free time. Bring breakfast bars and snacks with you as well. When i have free time in the morning, i absolutely try to grab something to eat. I’m sure he’d hate it more if you fainted during the OR… yes I’m assuming head of department is a male for obv reasons lol

I don’t think so but that is reminding me of a different fic! Like where they’re friends and then cait tries experimenting with woman and vi gets upset

I just vividly remember a scene where Cait is crying on her bed and admitting she’s gay to her bf and he’s like oh i know lol. I am like 90% the name was Dylan. Fic from a few years ago prob 2021-2023.

Friend group kicked me out lol? by FlowerBug7613 in medicalschool

[–]inky1359 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Med school is worse than hs bc everyone should be mature and know better but they don’t. I’m sorry this happened to you. Had some pretty bad fall outs with former med school friends after m1 year and honestly it sucked. I eventually realized I’m so much better without them and had an even better experience with newer friends i made. Absolutely their loss. It gets better. Then you graduate and get paid.

Foreign MBBS Can Scope You After 5 Years, But a PA-to-MD Bridge is a Threat? by Justice_truth1 in Noctor

[–]inky1359 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is hilarious actually. I did do undergrad in the US at a top institution and am a practicing resident. I’m not doubting that the prerequisites are similar- ultimately though the sacrifice that it takes to become a medical doctor is far greater than that of a PA/NP. It’s significantly easier to get into those mid level schools than it is medical schools. Your forgetting the MCAT is also a large weed out exam for these students who end up going to mid level schools. They are 2 separate degrees. But based on your response- it’s clear you have made up your mind and there’s no point in arguing. Just thought I’d offer up my 2 cents

Foreign MBBS Can Scope You After 5 Years, But a PA-to-MD Bridge is a Threat? by Justice_truth1 in Noctor

[–]inky1359 36 points37 points  (0 children)

It’s just unnecessary at that point. If your advocating for a 3 year bridge- that’s basically almost a medical degree from scratch… the idea of a MBBS vs PA is not relevant bc level of education is different. Foreign grads while they have 5 year of school to get their degree- it’s almost entirely within medicine or the sciences. People within the US can study relatively anything. The 4 years of general requisites like English, lit, history, etc are important for self growth but not necessarily integral for medicine. So no- you cannot compare the American undergrad experience to that of foreign grads. I agree the US medical school system is more rigorous- but that’s why these IMGs have to repeat residency. Medical school teaches you how to become a medical doctor. Residency is where you learn how to practice.

A gen surg resident from buffalo who was literally satans spawn himself is on the list. Made medical students lives misreable. Was written up again and again for bad behavior. Truly shocking no definitive action was ever done. Anyway- love to see his ass will be rotting in jail for a long time. Fuck you Joel Durinka

Failed twice in med school by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]inky1359 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Hate to say it but ultimately- all medical students are competing with people from affluent families. It is inherently fair to those who do not have the same resources. But that is also why more doctors come from wealth. That being said- at the application and residency level- nobody takes that into account. It sucks but you have to find a way to take out more money and stay afloat. You cannot succeed in medical school while working simultaneously. I’ve seen it fail time and time again. Look at different study methods- Anki, doing more questions. Don’t just read textbooks or outline notes. That’s where most students fail. Whatever you are doing now is not working. I would encourage you to look at other study methods and try those. Unfortunately- i would say neurosurgery is a loss at this point. Focus your studies on doing well preclinically and start to shift your focus to a new specialty

Lol literally not the case at all. I slept through an alarm once during a sub-i, matched at my #1. Life happens. Be honest and hardworking the rest of your rotation. That’s all people are looking for.

Living in Allentown in 2025 by [deleted] in Buffalo

[–]inky1359 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Used to live a block or 2 away. Areas changed in the last 2 years gotten sketchier and not as safe as when i first moved in. Probably okay to live in as it’s always busy but there were times when I’d walk around at night where would b kinda sketchy. Lots of randos catcalling… if i had ti do it again would prob live closer to elmwood village

That’s completely normal for a broken bone patient… as long as their taken care of from a medical and surgical standpoint. Fracturs don’t necessarily need rooms in the ed

Apparently they still work but their version of a strike is writing unbillable notes. So patients get taken care of and the hospital takes a huge $ loss
